Arabian Ranches Golf Club

About
Arabian Ranches Golf Club has a unique desert terrain that is reminiscent of the landscape of desert-style golf courses in Palm Springs, California and Scottsdale, Arizona. The layout weaves seamlessly through 247 acres of sand dunes and desert. Indigenous shrubs and bushes add to the desert atmosphere while creating challenges for golfers. The ninth and 18th holes offer scenic views of the Spanish Colonial-style clubhouse. In addition to the golf course, Arabian Ranches Golf Club offers a putting green and practice area near the first and 10th tees as well as a GPS system in every golf cart.

Bargain - golf with cart for $50
Weather in late November was perfect for golf (low-mid 20s). Course has no water at all so no lost balls. Relatively straight-forward course with a few challenging holes - everyone should enjoy. Greens were excellent, international standard.. Not as scenic as other perhaps and quite a long drive into the village from the main road to get to the course but for $50 including cart for golf in Dubai, who's complaining! Note that you can also get the Montgomerie course for $50 and, on occasion the Els course, so there's plenty variety in Dubai.
Work In Progress
It had been more than five years since I last played the Ranches so I thought I'd give it a repeat visit. Back then it was a course littered with ongoing excavation, building works and maintenance "issues". - sadly, over five years later, it is still exactly the same.
I wasn't a huge fan of it back then and, unfortunately, it still seems to have issues - generators throbbing and reverse alarms on maintenance vehicles hardly make for a pleasant round of golf, while blue piping, road traffic cones and temporary fencing really hurt what should be a picturesque venue.
The staff are warm and welcoming as always but the course just never seems to be have reached completion. It's a shame as it is a nice challenge and a different experience from some of the resort style courses in the city.
Rebuilt greens but opportunity missed.......
I was delighted to play Arabian Ranches again after it had been closed for a major renovation, I was disappointed.
The new Platinum TE greens are fantastic but the rest of the course has not been touched and remains in poor condition. Great shame this is a really good layout and deserves better care.
