View from the clubhouse down the first fairway. Control tower at the airport can be seen very tiny on the horizon. Indy skyline can be seen fromt he clubhouse on a clear day, but outside the frame of this picture. Photo submitted by beprimeau on 08/11/2024
It can sometimes be beautiful, sometimes muddy, aerated-green mess.
This course has been one I've recommended before and played at minimum 4 other times. This last time, however, had difficult aerated greens that made aiming putts meaningless.
You see the new cement and wood retaining walls, but then you see their greens covered in leaves. When they have their spot cleaned up, it's truly beautiful and difficult to not recommend them... but perhaps they need some time to figure it out.
Reminds me of NC!!
Love the layout and all the elevation on the course!!
Worst course south of Indianapolis?
There is nothing good to say about this course. Everything is bad or worse! Even other players are rude! It’s the worst golfing experience I have had this year. I can’t stress enough how NOT to play here under any circumstances!
2 downhill holes with beautiful views
No.1 and No.10 tea grounds are located on the high hil and offer great views. The view from clubhouse is also spectacular. We had a drink in the clubhouse after round!
Much improved!
Used to play here when Bluff Creek was truly a “goat ranch”, but that is no longer the case. Vast improvements have been made to the fairways and greens, and it’s now a legit choice when picking a south-side course to play. It’s a fun layout, with major elevation changes on several holes, all occurring within the hole you’re playing, not necessarily between holes. #10 is a prime example - 80 yards or so, with the green probably 80 feet below the tee box. It makes you manufacture a shot specifically for this hole, not just grab your sand wedge and swing away. Price is commensurate with the quality of the course, but they could use a soda fountain in the pro shop, and the lady there was less than friendly. Not rude, just not friendly.
Friendly staff and owners
Warm welcome at the course. Couldn’t have been nicer. Also got to meet their shepherd Lucy - what a cutie! Course was fun and easily playable considering it was my first time there.
Tee boxes
Great course. Tee boxes are a little rough, especially #9.
Great staff. Super friendly.
Coming Around
I play this course 6-8 times a year. After seeing the construction and issues with water hazards having water the past few years, it was good to see that the course is coming around. I think there are still areas for improvement (like getting rid of all the clover) but for less than $35 a person on the weekend, and the views the course has to offer (#10 has to be everyone's favorite) it was definitely the best bang for the buck.
+ Patched/ paved cart paths
+ Starter on #1
+ Water Hazards with water in them
- Easy to lose a ball in the open due to high rough & the amount of clover
- Pace of play isn't monitored and groups tend to hold up everyone else's play
Located on a bluff
Bluff creek is appropriately named, as the clubhouse and the 10 tee overlook the valley. After that, the course is relatively flat. It's saving grace comes at the greens. The Two tiered #3 green is very good. Number 8s par 5 green is tucked on the hill, but needs runoffs around it. 9 slants hard right to left and is a good finishing hole. 13-14-15 have some tough greens with knobs. 16 a tough par 3, with trouble all around. 17, dog right with water right. And a fair 18 hole. It was wet, but a scoreable course
A fair course with a view
The view from the clubhouse and #10 tee are very good, as the course is right in front of you. Not any elevation changes after that though. A few greens with knobs in the middle breaks up the flat ones monotony. There was an issue with my group booking 5 ppl for one time. I booked mine 2 weeks ago and then after having slot full with another 3, they added a 5th that morning. Basic of basic clubhouse fare. Greens very slow with standing water all around. A good scramble course
Great course.
Good course to play with some cool holes and elevated greens.
