Crabgrass approaches?
Disappointing visit due to course condition. Layout is poor with some long distances between holes. Cart path golf with approaches riddled with crabgrass, hard and pretty dry. Greens were ok with spongy tee boxes. Airport very close with planes landing approach over the course and pretty frequent when we were there. I will avoid this track the next time I am in the area for a stay.
Great golf course
Stop and enjoy the beauty of the surroundings.
This day was busy for weekday afternoon and was slower than usual, but it was a beautiful day to be on the golf course, and Timber Pointe one of the area's more picturesque.
Well designed well run
Definitely a course to play. Tee settings to suit your ability.
Always in wonderful condition.
A highly successful course that's always busy.
Which is the only down side.
All types of players with wide variety of skills.
So enjoy the course the pace could be a bit slow
Timber Pointe
Great course for the $$. Offers a nice mix of challenging and open holes for everyone.
Solid Course
I booked the course with a great deal through golfnow otherwise I wouldn't play the course at the normal rate. For the Saturday of Labor Day weekend was pleasantly surprised by the pace of play, actually teed off about 10 min early. Course was in fine shape, only complaints are about the bunkers and greens. Bunkers were inconsistent and the greens were the slowest I've played on all year. Absolutely had to crush any putt going uphill.
Friendly Decent Open Course Layout, Easy to Play.
I have played the Point before several years ago, and I got a great GN deal to play this course close to home. So I wanted to play golf , and I was paired up with 3 really great golfers, and I held my own with them, But this course even from the Blue's is a simple course. I holed out with 40-39=79. Very forgivable course. Great for beginners, and couples to enjoy. Great for friends to get together and play. The greens were in ok shape, I had to fix a lot of ball Divots on each green to putt in line with my ball. But I did like the roll on the greens ,semi quick. For the dog days of August the fairways were in decent shape as well. Had to fluff my ball to get decent lie for my shots, other wise I enjoyed my round with the guys I played with. Add the yardage and play from the Gold tees if you want any kind of a challenge here at the Point. other wise this course is average to short even from the blue tees. Traps needed work all the way around the course, if in them they were hard and crusty.
Timber Point - 1st time
this is a good course to play, well laid out and gives you lots of options, between driver & other clubs off the tee. greens have lots of slope and were hard, but not too fast. couldn't hardly stop a ball on the greens even with a wedge, so play to the front. got a great HOT DEAL thru Golf Now & will go back for that price
Feel good kind of course
Absolutely great facility. Course is ALWAYS in wonderful shape. Outstanding design, and a staff that is second to none in making your round enjoyable. Highly recommend playing here.
Good Course, Friendly Staff
Like playing here and pace of play was better than in the past. Overall the conditioning was good and the starter was very professional.
Worth it
Its a great course,,, tough greens . Today was very windy though.. Great staff, nice bar and patio area.. Greens are deceptively fast even when it needs a mowing. I do wish the golfers would take better care of the greens, lots of ball marks on some holes.
Timber Pointe
Great course conditions. Great staff. Great deal on Golfnow. Timber Pointe has a great layout and challenging for all skill levels. Highly recommended for all.
Great experience all around
Loved the course, 2nd time I played. Unfortunately the both times that I have played, the weather did not cooperate. 1st time rainy and in the 30's and second time 40 mile hour winds and very chilly. So really could not get a fair assessment of the course. Course without weather is very challenging, which is very deceiving from the initial look from the clubhouse. The greens were tough because it looked like they were just airrated. Fairways were beautiful and if you like sand, this is the place to be. Staff was just amazing both time I played. They were very informative and extremely hospitable. I will definitely be back and bring friends out to experience this great challenge. Other course representatives should take customer service lessons from the staff at Timber Point. Thanks for a great experience.
Timber Pointe GC
Nice course. Very friendly staff. A great course at the GolfNow value.
Simple but challenging
Worth the price of admission especially when u pay only $11.00 thru this website
Timber Pointe Golf Club
The Good: Fun, sporty course just east of Rockford is one of the better public courses in the area. Unique layout has mixture of tree-covered and open, links-style holes. The Par 5's are particularly strong and there are some beautiful Par 3's tucked into the woodlands. Good fairway conditions and smooth greens that putt pretty smooth. Very strong practice facility includes great driving range, putting green, and nice short game area. Very friendly staff will do their best to ensure you have a good experience. Good value at around $55 during peak season.
The Bad: Sand hazard conditions are very poor with thin sand. Greens are typically too slow and don't hold well. Pace of play can be a serious issue. Clubhouse is only fair and on-course amenities are mediocre with no GPS and outhouses.
The Verdict: "The Pointe" is a fun golf course that can be very challenging (and very slow) when the wind blows. A top tier public course in the greater Rockford area and close enough to the northwestern Chicago suburbs.
Best Hole: The short Par 3 #8 is a beautiful hole. Not more than a short iron, but tucked amongst an amphitheater of large trees.
nice course
very nice course with some challenging holes. staff very friendly. practice facility nice. club house great, video poker available. down side, cart paths in areas are very bumpy, skimpy amounts of sand in some bunkers. overall good course to play
Great course for the location
This is a beautiful course that offers quite a challenge. Lots of sand, trees and thick rough. The greens were in great shape. There were a lot of water coolers on the course, along with an adequate amount of port-o-johns. I did not eat anything there, so don't know about that, although the "19-hole" looked nice. Normal rates are a bit high for me - I wouldn't have golfed here if I didn't find a great rate on GolfNow. I'm very glad that I did, and intend on returning to this course to golf again - It was great!
Friendly Staff
Tough course. Most friendly golf course staff I have ever encountered.
Friendly establishment
Played this course a bunch of times and have always been treated with kindness. They do care about their customers. When you play there, sign up for their email club. They have a number of innovative specials from time to time.
My play today was awful, which was my doing. Course in good shape outside of the inconsistency of the bunkers. Generally the play is quick. Gotta little jammed up this time.
Pricie points... They have online specials and golfnow can usually get you out for $32 or less on weekdays.
Good driving range as well.
