Pleasant day
Greeted by golf attendant who helped with bags. They were on top with reservation details. Courses was in fine shape. Greens are fun; large with significant breaks. Relatively quick. FairwYs were in good shape. We like this course for its beauty and views. Several fun holes. Hit into a few traps and they were playable. Course had tough pin placements today; tourney in this morning and one tomorrow
Excellent golf course
Course was excellent and in great shape. Staff and patrons friendly. Only downside was kitchen was slow and we almost missed our tee time even though we had 45. minutes, we waited 40 minutes for 2 sandwiches. Food was good though.
Wonderful Experience
My son and I played 18 then met the rest of the family for dinner on the deck. Course was in great condition, nice layout, and fun to play. Dinner on their new deck was wonderful. Food is excellent and the staff are very friendly.
This Ain’t Scotland
Interesting course with a mix of challenges. Greens we’re surprisingly good although holes needed replacements. Staff was friendly and helpful. As for the conditions this hot July day; they were dreadful. Tees overgrown and dug up, fairways burned to a crisp, traps weed infested. Cart paths were either nonexistent, gravel or rough. Awful. I rated it a 4 on Value given the $40 greens fees but, these conditions should really drag down the score. Somebody with deep pockets needs to buy this and fix it up. It has potential.
Still had a nice day! Fire!
Affordable, well-maintained, “up-north” beauty.
Wonderful experience. Course very well groomed. Greens manicured and great shape. Quiet golf experience cut out of woods. Each hole different. Wide fairways, no bunker blocking run-up to greens. Very friendly staff/cart crew. Food is very good and dining overlooks a well- bunkered green, making for interesting dining/beverage viewing. 10 minute tee times - no crowding on course. Water adds beauty on two to three holes. Four tees with fair/generous separation. This is our”go-to” course east of Traverse City.
First Timers
My wife and I enjoyed our first time experience of playing Indian River and thoroughly enjoyed it. From the pro shop to the starter, the staff could not have been more helpful or friendly. The course is an old school layout and in excellent condition. Holes are challenging yet fair. We will be back!
One of our favorites
Loved the flower gardens that membership had worked on, was my wife’s comment
OK Course
Played on a perfect morning. Staff was friendly in the parking lot, brought a cart to my car to help load the bag. Pace of play was very slow. We were stuck behind a group of older gentlemen, who refused to let us play through. No ranger to be found to speed up play. Conditions were good, but there are better to be found. Greens were in great shape, but very slow. Cool layout where the older original holes were mixed in with the second 9. Overall its a good course, but here are much better in the Mecca.
Very nice
This was good from moment we arrived. Picked up and put carts on cart. Inside, they reduced rate because season had changed. Very nice of them. Starter asked us about skill level, told us to feel free to play second ball.
First couple of holes are easier than rest of course. I wasn’t driving as far as I should and had longer second shots than I should. My wife loves the course because of the yellow, advanced tees. . We met club member who was attending to a garden on course and she told us she had promoted those tees . Thank you fellow Spartan !
Nice views from the 17th hole. Two playable par fives with approaches over the water are fun holes
Very nice and we will be back
Great day for golf!
We were staying at a cottage on Burt Lake for the week and the course was nearby. We were first off in the morning... just us and the deer. We finished in about 2 and a half hours. Thank you, Golf Now! It was a great time out there! I think it's one of the nicer courses in Northern Michigan! They also have a great pro shop and restaurant/bar.
Horrible Experiance
As soon as we walked into the proshop area we overhear some lady in her office making fun of guests and apparently laughing about some boss of hers or president at the golf course. Saying very nasty things it went on for about 5 minutes . We knock on the door and she rudely says what do you want. . Well we were interested in becoming members, and the costs associated with it. This lady, I think her name was Pat or Pam pipps or something like that said oh I don't have time for this and proceeded to rush us out the door as we were leaving we heard some very rude comments and profanity underneath her breath needless to say. A return visit is not in our future or anyone from are golf league again.. That is a shame we have played that course before and it's very lovely. We were shocked and amazed how someone could treat us that badly. And if she is reading this or someone does shame on you. No one deserves to be treated like that.
This reviewer is confused.
I have been coming to this area for over 60 years and have played IRGC over 100 times.
The conditions listed by this reviewer couldn’t be farther from the truth. Having played many of the courses in this area, I believe this review was meant for Black Bear in Vanderbilt.
Their conditions are atrocious.
