Edmonton Garrison Memorial Golf & Curling Club
About
Edmonton Garrison Memorial Golf & Curling Club is centrally located within 15 minutes of the Edmonton Area, St. Albert, Morinville, and Cardiff. It first opened as a nine-hole course in the 1950s. Since the second nine wasn't added until 1996, there is a distinct difference between the front and back nine that makes it feel like you're getting two golf courses in one. The front, the original nine, is a more traditional parkland layout while the back is a more open links nine. You'll face a different set of challenges on each. The smaller greens on the front are indicative of the time when it was built and the size will also test your shot placement skills. In contrast, Edmonton Garrison Memorial's back nine has large and undulating greens as well as more strategically placed mounding.

Edmonton Garrison Memorial G&CC
The Alberta Golf Association held the northern Alberta Seniors Qualifying round at the Edmonton Garrison Memorial G&CC. The course was a good choice...but somebody forgot to tell the weather gods to cooperate. Just 30 minutes prior to the start of the round the overcast skies darkened and the rain came down...and never let up.
This is a parkland style layout with a mix of tree lined fairways and wide-open areas that offered little protection from todays elements. There aren't any real elevation changes on the course which makes for an easy walk for those so inclined.
On this day the rough was thick and wet and guaranteed you an extra stroke on the card if you missed the fairway. From the seventh hole onwards finding relief from the standing water on the remaining fairways was an adventure in itself.
The greens were exceptionally good at holding most approach shots. Fortunately, the greens keeping staff had the foresight to cut the majority of pin positions on high spots on the greens. Greens were of varied sizes and contours. Putts rolled consistently.
I was fortunate enough to be in the second group out at 08:10. The groups out later were hit with the wettest of conditions. Needless to say, even with my good rain gear on I was pretty wet at the end of my round.
Edmonton Garrison Memorial G&CC would have received a higher rating but the wet weather made the course conditions extremely challenging. Hats off to the staff for looking after us.

Great course
For what you pay, this course is well worth the money.
Hi, TELLY2TOES. Thank you so much for the great review. We are glad you had an incredible time, and we hope to see you again soon! Thanks for choosing Edmonton Garrison Memorial Golf & Curling Club.
Pleased
Everything was great. The only thing I found not acceptable is the lack of potable water on this course. This is particulary bad as you don't come back to the clubhouse after nine.
Hi, u429041746. Thank you for reviewing the course. Your feedback about water on the course is important to us. We are working to develop the best way to provide our guest with refreshments. We do allow outside drinks. We do not allow outside alcoholic beverages. You are welcome to bring your own bottled water, Gatorade, or another refreshment as long as it is alcohol-free. We are glad to see you rated everything else to be great during your game. We will continue to work towards an excellent experience by using your comment for guidance. Thank you for playing Edmonton Garrison Memorial Golf & Curling Club. We hope to see you again soon.
George’s green
I was very surprise how good the course looked . However the pace of play was quite slow after the third hole . The pace I was slow because somehow their was a group of six player together. Some had carts .some were walking .
And some were hitting from different tee boxes . We played through , which was great and at times can very concening or contentious. It all seems that the people golfing by way of the course or for a lack of experience have very little golf eticate . . Certain holes have different ways to get around the course but if you go the correct way , you won’t interfere with the group ahead of you. . I didn’t see a Marshall who could of remedy the situation or a golf cart food truck which is common in most golf course. . In the end I still enjoyed my round but will look elsewhere to play .
Hello, Vrgolf. Thank you for reviewing the course. We apologize for the delay of play during your round. This is by no means the standard we strive to achieve. With that in mind, we are working to best control pace and allow everyone to finish in a reasonable amount of time. We will continue to look for ways to improve. Thank you for playing and we hope to see you again soon.

Still one of my favourite courses to play
Consistent improvement in course condition. Presumably they have had a great greenskeeper the last couple of years as the course conditions are overall remarkably great.
Last two or three years enormous improvements in course conditions from T to green.
As nice as any public course in the area. In fact a cur above the average.
All personnel, check in & on the course, are friendly & welcoming.
Price of play has escalated such that play cost not as reasonable as in past thereby making the choice to play this course as compared to other courses no longer a slam dunk choice.
Not withstanding I still enjoy my visits to this course

Just a nice casual course
I play this course a fair amount and it never disappoints. Over all pretty easy course but still very enjoyable to play. They trimmed down a fair amount of the fescue which has made it a bit easier to find the odd wayward shot which has been a nice change the year as well.

Greens in good shape, I thought rough was a little long, May be with a lot of rain recently. Pace in front nine terrible,. The 4 some creating this quit after 9 and second 9 was very good. Cart paths need some improvements. Overall a nice layout.

Hidden Gem
I never would have though that a gold course on a military base would be so much of a pleasure to play on. Fairways, Greens, and Tee-Boxes were in great shape. They do not pack in the groups so the pace of play is enjoyable. Not the most challenging course in town but the fairways are wide and open which make them very forgiving. Definitely worth trying out this season.

Course in good condition. Greens are good. Carts have GPS and in very good condition. Started my round with a Dad and son who played 9 holes and the second nine with 3 gentlemen. Golfers here are very accommodating and friendly. Left my phone in the cart and starter went out of his way to help locate it.
Hello, u4327651. Thank you for visiting us at Edmonton Garrison Memorial Golf & Curling Club. We appreciate your 4-star rating and review. We hope you join us for another round soon.
They always double book.
I've been coming here for years but I and my crew finally had the conversation that we'll never golf here again.
They always double book on tee times and they get upset when you're not on time. Funny enough, even when we're late, we still have to wait 10-15 mins to tee off because they booked too many players at once.
The pace of play is terrible. It takes about 25 mins to get through a single hole because theirs literally 3 teams of foursomes on the hole at once. We once played 18 holes and played for about 7 hours straight. 3 of the 7 hours was playing the waiting game.
I know it's a good price but golf else where. This course is extremely unorganized.
Good Morning Ray, thank you for your comments. I’m the assistant pro at our course and your comments do cause me some concern. With all the poor weather recently our tee sheet has been quite empty so if it’s malfunctioning and double booking folks I will look into it. I’m the only person with the rights to squeeze in tee times so it’s alarming if you’re saying we are double booking intentionally . We put through 144 shot gun tourneys in five hours ,so a seven hour round is also concerning. Please feel free to reach out to me directly at the course or email me at jnoseworthy@egmgolf.com
I look forward to hearing from you.
Jody.
Green baby
Very nice to play under those great conditions . Green grass throughout the course. Some greens need work as well the 15 th green approach is under repair. Well done course

In great condition
Always like to get out to Edmonton Garrison when I can. Most greens were in good condition12/18, fairways were decent, tee-boxes need some TLC and some, not ALL fringe on some greens the grass hadn't been cut ??? Will consider going back again.
