Vulcan Golf and Country Club
About
Vulcan Golf & Country Club sits on the outskirts of the town. The layout sprawls across gently rolling terrain accented with stands of mature trees. The course measures to just over 6,300 yards from the back tees. It's gentle enough for beginners but also great for more advanced players who are looking for a casual round that can be played in less than four hours. The golf course starts with a gentle front nine with water only coming into play twice. Don't be lulled into a sense of comfort though, the course becomes progressively more difficult, culminating with the signature 18th hole. Water appears again on six holes on Vulcan's back nine, including on the final par-3 hole. Water borders the entire left side and there are also a slew of bunkers protecting the large green.

Beautiful weather, good course condition
Pace of play good (3 1/2 hours) and course is in good shape. Greens are a little slow but easy to adjust to.
Slow play
Beautiful day, very busy. Front nine was ridiculously slow. Fortunately quite a few people quit after 9, still slow but reasonable on the back. Need a marshall out there to get things going.
Good value
Staff very friendly good course layout front 9 is the older of the two more trees so a good challenge back 9 is wide open so a person can let it fly lots of fun can be had at a reasonable price.
We love this course.
It’s a bit of a drive to get there but, Oh so worth it. A challenging well maintained course, 2 distinctly different 9s. Friendly staff and cheap beer. We will be back for sure.
Great value, course is in good shape
Entire course is in great shape. Back nine is quite a bit easier than front, but for the money, can't go wrong.
Best time ever
It may be out of the way and a bit of a drive, but definitely worth it. The course is in amazing condition. You get to play two distinctively different 9s. They do an amazing job out there. The small town feel. We love it. Will be back very soon.
Great weather, good course, fast play
Teed off early afternoon and had the course to ourselves. Finished in just over 2 1/2 hours. Course is in good condition. Great day!
Getting better
Course has improved dramatically over the past month. Winter kill not nearly as prevalent, almost gone. Good value for the money.
if not for the long drive from Calgary, great course,
front 9 great layout, tough to walk due to tees box setup long but carting was good. Back 9 newer with not much for hazards and not complaining. 40 bucks including cart was good bang for your dollar compared to Calgary city courses that charge over 80. Over an hour drive from Calgary makes a difference as well. On a Saturday we finished the course in less than 3 hours but it wasn't too busy.
It's getting there
Each week the course is getting better. A couple more it will be in pretty good shape.
Greens quite slow
Pace of play was pretty good because 2 foursomes let us play through, very thoughtful. On the negative side, by 15 we caught up to a 5 some and they made us wait. Why they would let a 5 some out is beyond me? The fairways still have winter kill but not as bad as 2 weeks ago, so they are making progress. Greens are terribly slow and sooner or later that must be addressed.
Decent course for the monry
Front 9 was scenic and more challenging. Back 9 is very new and in development. For the price, it was worth a couple rounds.
Winter burn
Course in fair condition with fairways having a lot of winter burn.
Good value with Hot Deal on Golf Now.
Winter has been tough on this course
Lots of winter kill on the fairways and some on the greens. I'm assuming they haven't cut the greens yet because they were slower than slow. They are working on the course right now so hopefully it comes back but right now a little rough.
Nice course, greens and fairways were a little touchy as they had a bad winter. Positive that they will improve and it will be a beautiful course to play. There is a few holes on the back nine that were a little far apart for myself who was walking but my partner had a cart so I just hopped on and got a ride.
