About
Vulcan Golf & Country Club sits on the outskirts of the town. The layout sprawls across gently rolling terrain accented with stands of mature trees. The course measures to just over 6,300 yards from the back tees. It's gentle enough for beginners but also great for more advanced players who are looking for a casual round that can be played in less than four hours. The golf course starts with a gentle front nine with water only coming into play twice. Don't be lulled into a sense of comfort though, the course becomes progressively more difficult, culminating with the signature 18th hole. Water appears again on six holes on Vulcan's back nine, including on the final par-3 hole. Water borders the entire left side and there are also a slew of bunkers protecting the large green.

Great Shape!
The Vulcan Alberta Golf Course is in fantastic shape!
Course is in good shape
Fariways are in really good shape. Greens are nice and full, maybe cut a little long. Some did not roll true because of this, but still a good round.
Gem
I would consider this course a hidden gem within an hour drive of Calgary. Worth the trip.
Crappy weather
Cool with big winds. Front nine was o.k., back nine was brutal. However, because of the weather, course was not full and we did the 18 in just under 3 hours, which was great. Greens are pretty slow, maybe because of all the rain we have had recently.
