Sawmill Creek Golf Resort & Spa

About
Sawmill Creek Golf Resort & Spa is southwestern Ontario's premier golfing destination. Located just east of Sarnia and less than an hour from London, the golf course is a conveniently situated getaway that feels much further thanks to an idyllic location along the shores of Lake Huron. The course is a par-71, links-style design that is challenging enough for avid golfers but still playable for beginners. The gently rolling landscape was enhanced even further with the addition of more than a million tons of earth, which was carefully molded to look as though it had always been there. The meticulously crafted mounding adjoins the fairways, providing a continuous flow throughout the golf course. In addition to the mounding, golfers will also face large bunkers, tall fescue, bluegrass rough, and desert-like waste areas. It may appear daunting, but Sawmill Creek is not as tough as it looks.

Challenging course with some very interesting water holes. Wind is a huge factor in club selection.
Nice course
Only area I would like to see improvement is better sand in bunkers.
This course was in rough shape a few short years ageo and last year it was in great shape and this year is no different!
Getting better
Staff is working hard to bring it back and if I golfed more I would consider joining
Beautiful golf day
The course is in very good shape for the most part. Some Tee boxes and sand traps need work however, the fairways and greens are great. You can see the work that the ownership group has put in to make this a much nicer course.
If they want to make this a difficult course to play, growing out fescue and rough will certainly make that happen.
Also there are some blind spots that can create some challenges for first time players on the course. Overall the course is fun to play.
Disappointing and disorganized
Went with my dad who drove 2 hours to play and we ended up leaving due to the disorganization. There was a huge backlog of groups because they had more carts than cart keys. The starters explanation was that there are members that take keys home, so when they play they don’t have to pick one up. After waiting an hour, we asked if we could just walk and they said no problem and they’d get us out sooner. After another 20 minutes, we left and they refused to give a refund. Never have I seen such a disorganized and poorly managed course, won’t be back. It’s unfortunate because it is a nice course to play, but until they get themselves organized and enforce policy, I’d avoid.
It's coming back
Gets better every time they really are making it good after it almost being a cow pasture
A pleasant surprise
I have noticed this course the last couple of years on GolfNow and the reviews have not been good. However, the last couple of months there have been some very positive reviews suggesting that the course conditions have improved significantly with work constantly being done and we totally agree with these reviews. Actually we noticed many groundskeepers working today, I do just suggest that they be more aware of the golfers.
Overall we were very happy with our round and definitely will be looking forward to our next round here.
Coming Back
The course is recovering quickly from the abuse the owner caused and is almost back. Greens are slick fairway looking good and can see work done on fescue.Almost to a five star rating with a great staff
The course has improved dramatically
Overall the course is in really good shape. Some of the tee blocks could be levelled out a bit. One of the indoor staff members was not a pleasant women. Not very friendly at all
Sawmill was awesome
The course was in great condition after a long hot summer. I was so impressed with how the staff went out of their way to be accommodating. Had lunch in the restaurant and it was delicious. Highly recommended
Horrible experience
My friends and I were immediately pressured by the Marshall on first hole. Firstly by taking our cart away that we paid for and then telling us we aren’t getting a refund on it. He began telling us we were too slow, literally 5 minutes into playing first hole and continued talking trash not in a joking way. We just spend $70 each for 9 holes. He then carted next to us for the next two holes pressuring us and breathing down our necks to hurry up and skip even though the couple ahead of us was holding us up. I don’t know if it was a bad day for him but he was straight up bullying us even during mid swing. There are no cart girls and we only paid for 9 holes and was charged a “flat rate” which is the same as paying for 18 holes on weekends somehow?. It was honestly a horrible experience and paying 50 + 20 for a cart for 9 holes is the biggest scam you could buy. It was a joke. The Marshall, halfway through began complementing us and switched his demeanor and it was so off putting. I know this place is cheaper on weekdays but I’m telling you it’s not worth it.
