Great Golf Course
My only complaint would be that greens are a little choppy and with any 9 hole course it's usually backed up on the first tee if you're playing 18.
Good challenge at Calerin
Despite having the worst round in my life, this is a good course, The 9 has offset tees so most of the holes have a different look on the 'back' nine.
Nice pleasant sight lines, in a scenic setting. Layout gives an appearance of being bigger,, but is not a bad walk although I rode today. Greens had tough pin placements but condition of all but one was very good and consistent speeds. Fairways were in very good condition.
Lots of bunkers and fescue, but if you put your ball in the right place the holes offer a good but fair challenge.
Only complaint of the day (apart from my own swing problems) was the turn, where two twosomes were sent out ahead of us and slowed play. Group behind was very loud to point of rudeness and sent the marshal to ask us to speed up, but we waited on every tee but one for the two groups ahead.
This course is beautiful
The course is in very good condition and we enjoyed every minute of it.
Excellent 9-Hole Course
Pleasantly surprised - two 9's playing like 18. Love the design and the challenge that accompanies it. Excellent course to play. Green obviously badly affected by the long harsh winter.
Great 9 hole course
Played May 28 , course has suffered some greens damage but temporary greens in place. love this Doug Carrick course wish it was 18 holes..
Great day
Friendly people made you feel comfortable appreciated that we played there course.course in very good shape except for few green which were damaged over winter.
Winter takes it's toll
At this time, there are 4 temporary greens because of the damage from winter. Hopefully, spring will come and this will no longer be necessary. Otherwise, we always enjoy Calerin.
Hidden treasure
Beautiful 9 hole course just outside of Erin. The two separate tee boxes for each hole, which move a good distance forward/back or to the sides, give the course an 18 hole look and feel. Winter was rough on the greens, but the rest of the course is in good condition. Well manicured fairways and large undulating greens are well protected with bunkers on all holes and water on a couple holes. Fairways wind their way up to the greens with wide landing areas, which is nice. I will certainly be playing again later in the summer. Once the greens improve and the course plays to full length, with smoother putting surfaces, this course will be a beast! But if you hit decent shots, its gettable. Two thumbs up in my opinion.
Early season
Have played Calerin many times, a hidden gem near Erin. A 9-holer designed by Doug Carrick in his early days. 2 sets of tees make for a unique design, a different view and yardage on each hole. The extreme bad winter took its toll with 4 temp greens and some winter kill on fairways and greens. Green fees discounted for now but still good value for what you pay. Need a good stretch of warm sunny weather to bring it back to normal pristine conditions.
Very interesting course
This course is very lush and interesting. I will be sure to return to play again, once the temporary greens are removed.
Damaged greens from a severe winter
Several greens in poor shape. This course is always in good shape! A very harsh winter certainly did damage to several greens. Will probably take a month for greens to get back to good conditions. I will certainly go back in mid June.
