always enjoyable
I have played Lakeview for almost 50 years! It remains a fun place to play and is always in good shape.
Greens are not in prime condition yet, but are usually pretty good.
Treat in the city
If your looking to play and not waste 1 1/2hrs in the car getting to a coarse? Then consider Lakeview a classic old school coarse! Watch out for the 6th hole a tough par 4, always in to the wind, and the gimmicky 12th the bell hole.
Give it a try!
Good test of golf close to city
Great municipal course close to city of Toronto. Excellent value . Some demanding par fours.
Good Fall Conditions
The greens on this course have been aerated, but still putted fairly well. The rest of the course is in great condition for fall. But, I learned something for fall golf. Check out the courses website before booking, as I discovered I could have booked through the course for the same price, but without the online booking fees. The discount shown online was off the full summer rate. Also, the starter was great, very courteous. If the starter/players assistant appears to be giving you a hard time (remember, they don't make the rules, but enforce them), it's because you're not following course guidelines.
Good Challenge
I found this course very tough as I was probably playing my worst golf ever. However, if you are a good golfer the challenges offer a good deal of risk and reward. Not very long, this course pays good dividends if you are accurate of the tee. Some holes though are unreasonable for the high handicapped amateur even off the forward tees like the 9th hole and the 16th hole. 200 plus yards to an uphill par 3 is just too much of a challenge. It is the end of the season so the greens are predictable and mostly devoid of grass.
dispoint
getting worse than year by year. Too pricey. Bad service.
This course has character
The pace is very slow and towards the end there was the marshall but he was more interested in finding balls than speed up the play.
great public course
I have played Lakeview many times in the last 30 years. This was my first time in 5 years. It was great to see the many new improvements that were made. There are still many challenging tee shots, but some new forward tees made it a little easier for my wife (a 22 handicap). The greens were still hard and fast, but much greener, and a little easier to put. The sand traps were all redone with white sand, and gave the course a beautiful look. I was very impressed with the makeover of the course......not so much with the hiked up fees, or over 5 hour round.
Sunday Afternoon Golf
Really Slow day - we didn't finish the course because it was going to take us over 5.5hrs as groups ahead of us were really really slow. Course Marshall would be a good idea on weekends at least to help speed things up.
Lakeview
Overall for $50 with cart I would play it again. Full pop at $91..no thanks
nice day for golf
the weather was great and got a great deal finally from golf now .the greens were fast and in great shape after the brutal winter.
Great Course
Excellent conditions, both weather and course with some really interesting and challenging holes.
good value
Good condition course that's fairly open. Fairways are very playable. But the players do not maintain the course and greens very well.
Good value
Nice course, friendly staff. The course is a bit tight but otherwise its a nice course.
wierd design
I almost hit the same guy twice because of blind shots, and because tees are too close to greens.
It's Back in great shape
The course has almost fully recovered from all the harsh winter kill. It's back to being in great shape,so don't be put off by the poor reviews of June and July.
Grand old course
I just love this old course. Every shot is challenging, nothing given for free out there, especially putting.
Colourful course
Very good value for twighlight round. The condition was good and some very challenging holes. I used to live in the area and played lake view more often it was nice to come back and see it has not lost any of its beauty.
This course has great features
Very Enjoyable playing it.......................................
The perfect challenge local course
My first time on this course, was recommended by a friend. Good length. On this day we had to wait too long for slower players. Maybe if I return it will be better. Good for those who like to stay close , but quite expensive. Greens and some areas on the course need work. Although I'd recommend it to friends( for the challenge of the course) I will not be rushing back. I get out about 3 times per month and try to play a different course every time .
