Winter Kill
Should not be charging 40+ for seniors, at this time, with course in such poor disrepair. Both the greens and fairways will need major upgrading from the winter kill.
Serious Winter Damage
This course which historically held the Canadian Open in the 1920s and 30s has been a course I wanted to play for a number of years but could not due to the business of the course. I was looking forward to it but, this year but the course and many nearby courses have been hit very hard by the extreme winter the Toronto area experienced this year. The Poa greens were in awful shape. Fairways were below average, at best. According to the pro shop, any golf course with Poa greens were equally stressed. Very sad.
Worst conditions I've ever played - anywhere
I hadn't played this course in about 6 years, but decided to take advantage of a low spring rate on Golf Now. The harsh winter was not kind to Lakeview! Every single green and tee box is virtually dead , and top dressed with sand. I'll be interested to see if they actually come back to a playable condition later in the season. I'm no horticulturist, but it sure didn't look promising. I was told that it was because they are "Poa" grass rather than the more durable "bent grass". Again, it would seem to me that in a climate like this, why would you use that type of grass ?
If you're considering this course later in the season, I'd suggest calling ahead to inquire about conditions
nice course in Mississauga
nice course in Mississauga and is well maintained. people in front were slow.
No marshals on the course
Taking 5 hours with a power cart to play this course that mixed white tees with blue tees is not acceptable. There was no marshal to enforce slow players let fasters to pass neither to enforce the signs at par 3 that says to wave for the group behind. There is one green (#8) unplayable and they don't even throw sand to cover the bumps and depressions on the green. The course is beautiful but these things mentioned above need attention.
Excellent course, but very slow pace of play
Beautiful course in the heart of the city with a diverse selection of holes. Course Marshal did not show up at all and pace of play was over 5 hours
Pristine Golf course
Course is difficult yet beautiful and wonderuflly maintained, pace of play was excellent especially considering how busy it was. I will be playing this course much more often.
A beautiful track with some tricky holes.
Course conditions (fairways and greens) and weather were perfect, so hard to not like the round. Even though pace was slow at 4.75 hr. First and second cut longer than normal, making club selection critical. A few blind doglegs with lengthy carry over hazard. Greens recently rolled and very fast.
A wonderful value at $55 w/cart on Hot Deal.
Nice course, a couple of greens need work
The course was generally in good condition but a few of the greens were bumpy. The eighth in particular needs work to repair. The 12th hole is bit quirky, severe dog leg right with an elevated tee, down the hill in the fairway and then a difficult blind shot back up a hill to the green. Fairly wide open course with enough trees, traps and water to challenge the average golfer.
Great Classic Layout + Well Maintained City Course
This was one of the best maintained city courses I've played in recent years. Some beautiful holes and an interesting layout. Some people say the 12th hole is gimmicky (playing down and then back up on a 90° angle), but if you miss the fairway, it makes for a very challenging hole. I found it interesting how #17 had 2 separate greens and tees. Played the upper tees. I think the lower tees would be much more challenging (water in play and harder green to hit). 5th hole had one of the tightest fairways I've seen in a while. Got a great deal on GolfNow. Would return!
This course is designed for real golfers!!!!
East of Dixie Rd. folks have to die to play there. West of Dixie Rd. you get the feeling the pioneers and legends of golf are looking over your shoulder, saying swing easier kid, relax, enjoy your game. Former home to the Canadian Open. #12 is awesome...Give your head a shake if you don't get it. #16 is the one we practice 15 holes for...The course is in amazing shape and it rivals any private course in that regard. Don't feel bad about not scoring your best here, because the course is disigned to make you play your best, but realize you are playing a magnificent course from a bygone era!
A must play Classic course little changed
A 100 year old plus Herbert Strong designed municipal course. A shorter course by todays standards, but the fast rolling and tricky undulations and breaks on the greens defends par. A must play for any classic course aficionado; the 17th 91 yard par 3 a standout..
Always a pleasure
Top notch condition as always. Greens firm, fast and smooth, despite heavy rainfall before the round.
always in great shape and fun to play
This course is always in great shape, there are no flat greens here which makes the course tough, it's a little pricey for an executive course but convenient if you live in the city. I play here once a week and enjoy playing here every time, great walking course.
Nice Course in the city
Nice course but some tee blocks are too close to other greens and watched as a few errant shots from golfers landed very close to us while teeing off. Also a couple of goofy holes that just don't make any sense.
Fairways are extremely tight with little margin for error.
This course has great character
The course is over 100 years old, but well maintained. It is moderately challenging, although some hole like the signature 10 hole is very challenging and quite an interesting layout. The staff is friendly.
I highly recommend Lakeview.
Great Course, however being a city course could be priced better...
The course is in excellent shape, staff is friendly, and overall great golf course!
Great experience, awesome greens
I golfed horribly because the greens are great, best shape of a public course I have seen. The course was in great shape all-around, and the course was not packed at all. A great experience overall.
Only one dumb hole... #12
great value for a course in the GTA. no molson products, tho.
