The perfect challenge local course
My first time on this course, was recommended by a friend. Good length. On this day we had to wait too long for slower players. Maybe if I return it will be better. Good for those who like to stay close , but quite expensive. Greens and some areas on the course need work. Although I'd recommend it to friends( for the challenge of the course) I will not be rushing back. I get out about 3 times per month and try to play a different course every time .
Tough Course
...but the greens were terrible and inconsistently cut. No cart / beverage service. No marshall. Bunkers need to overturned. Good location but not worth more than $45 - $50 with cart all in.
Not a bad round with rain
that was some 30% chance of rain! it actually poured on the 8th and 9th hole but was beautiful after that. a good city course, but some greens still show signs of winter damage. combination of short and long holes (close to 600 yd par 5 and 410+ yd par 4). Accuracy and length is important on this course. Service exemplifies good municipal service, as the staff were welcoming and accommodating. This course is a good place to go if you don't want to drive a long distance.
good course
overall the course is in good condition, but the bad winter we had caused the greens to be in poor conditions. the ball did not roll well and the greens were still badly damaged.
At least they painted the greens the right colour.
At least they painted the greens the right colour.
Too slow and wear a helmet
The course is good to play and in decent shape. Beware the other golfers though. It's a tight layout and a few times we were nearly hit. No one called out either. I had someone try to play my ball twice thinking it was their errant hit. Pace was excruciating.
If it attracted a more "aware" set of golfers it would be a gem.
Round of Twilight Golf (2x front nine)
Nice course, wide open fiarways.
Staff was excellent. Lots of walkers and if I wasn't playing twilight golf I would have been walking too. I put pace of play at 4stars since me and my buddy just played the first nine twice as the back nine was back up with walker and we wanted to get 18 in.
Overall the condition of the course is good.
I'm a 100-105 golfer so good course for me, a good golfer might find it a bit easy.
Adjusted for greens
Every course in Southwest Toronto had its greens decimated in the winter of 2013/14, so hard to single one out for just this yr. Normally Lakeview's greens vastly exceed what one would expect for the green fee charged.
Good, classic course that can still sting you if you let your guard down despite only 6300yds. Some are put off by gimmicky 12th hole, but it is fair, and I suspect people don't like it because it can de-rail a tired golfer's round. 16th & 18th holes are among my favourites in the Toronto area.
Not worth the money
I understand that the greens were messed up in the Winter however the pins were placed in the bad areas on the green instead of the spots that were ok... didn't make sense...
Lakeview in the Rain
Booked a great deal with GolfNow for 2 - it was raining cats and dogs when we started, but pulled back after the 6th hole - there were about 10 of us on the whole course. Sun came out on the 9th hole and stayed that way the rest of the round - had a great time after we dried out around the 12th hole. Will definitely come back but will watch the weather closer.
Winter damaged greens
Lakeview is a great course but the greens did not survive the harsh winter. Most have the look of a moth eaten carpet and are very bumpy. I doubt they will come back this year. I wouldn't pay full price to play these greens.
Not the same course
I've played this course a few times now, but first time this year. The overall course is in great conditions but the greens are all damaged. They are working to fix this, but should offer a discounted rate while they do say as this or have a disclaimer advising of the poor greens. Will not be playing this course again unless the price is lower.
Great municipal course
The golf course is a true gem. The greens have still not recovered from our severe winter, but the rest of the course was in great shape.
Horrible Greens and Extremely Slow
I will not go back to this course for two reasons:
1. Greens were pathetic and I mean it. There is no grass in many spots and they are covered with this green paint. You cannot putt on these greens to save your life. I understand it has been a tough winter but all courses have recovered by now. The course looks like what others courses looked in March.
2. Pace of play was brutal. People were extremely slow. We had 4 groups on one hole at an instance and the marshall was just looking away and did nothing while we were obviously complaining.
The fairways were in great shape but the overall experience was pathetic for a course that is pretty pricey.
conditions and pace
the conditions were somewhat inconsistent, a number of the greens need work as putts seemed to be quite bumpy.
the pace was decent until our group was held up behind a 3some of women who were walking the course (mighty slow based on a regular walking pace). the marshall knowingly just observed from a distance but never urging the groups ahead to pick up the pace.
ive played this track many times and the current conditions are close the worst ive experienced here in the past.
I would however play here again simply due to the convenience of location. Once conditions have improved, its a great convenient slightly shortened course to play when you do not wish to drive 45 minutes out of the city.
Good city course but bad 2014 condition
Lakeview has always been my favourite city course in the GTA. It's a very mature parkland setting with some beautiful holes (and some odd ones like #12) crisscrossed by a meandering creek. The only issues I've had are that course conditions have never been particularly good, this year was worse probably due to the extreme winter we experience but they've always struggled with this ever since. The lack of a proper practice facility also takes away from the overall experience.
Poor Condition
Great location but poor green conditions which were nearly unplayable. We would of spent our Saturday afternoon elsewhere had we known the current conditions. Its a decent track that is close to home but we won't be back this year in its current condition.
Round with Friends
Good course but the greens were in terrible condition because of the weather. Would like to play when the greens are fixed.
Everybody that has played this course has mentioned how bad the greens are...and they are! but you, you must be blind or you played at a different track.
