Horrible Greens and Extremely Slow
I will not go back to this course for two reasons:
1. Greens were pathetic and I mean it. There is no grass in many spots and they are covered with this green paint. You cannot putt on these greens to save your life. I understand it has been a tough winter but all courses have recovered by now. The course looks like what others courses looked in March.
2. Pace of play was brutal. People were extremely slow. We had 4 groups on one hole at an instance and the marshall was just looking away and did nothing while we were obviously complaining.
The fairways were in great shape but the overall experience was pathetic for a course that is pretty pricey.
conditions and pace
the conditions were somewhat inconsistent, a number of the greens need work as putts seemed to be quite bumpy.
the pace was decent until our group was held up behind a 3some of women who were walking the course (mighty slow based on a regular walking pace). the marshall knowingly just observed from a distance but never urging the groups ahead to pick up the pace.
ive played this track many times and the current conditions are close the worst ive experienced here in the past.
I would however play here again simply due to the convenience of location. Once conditions have improved, its a great convenient slightly shortened course to play when you do not wish to drive 45 minutes out of the city.
Good city course but bad 2014 condition
Lakeview has always been my favourite city course in the GTA. It's a very mature parkland setting with some beautiful holes (and some odd ones like #12) crisscrossed by a meandering creek. The only issues I've had are that course conditions have never been particularly good, this year was worse probably due to the extreme winter we experience but they've always struggled with this ever since. The lack of a proper practice facility also takes away from the overall experience.
Poor Condition
Great location but poor green conditions which were nearly unplayable. We would of spent our Saturday afternoon elsewhere had we known the current conditions. Its a decent track that is close to home but we won't be back this year in its current condition.
Round with Friends
Good course but the greens were in terrible condition because of the weather. Would like to play when the greens are fixed.
Not the best shape I've seen this course in
I played this course a couple of times about five years ago and was very impressed. This time most of the greens were in rough shape, which has been attributed to the harsh winter. Since this was my first round of the year, I can't compare it to other courses -- which may also be suffering from the same problem. But I got a discounted $36 (plus taxes) rate, so I was happy and will return.
Overrated and Over Priced
This course is in terrible condition and shouldn't be near the price they are normally asking. Not one green on the entire course was decent they were all covered in fertilizer or something and divots, bald spots and bumps everywhere. The fairways were decent at best and overall a big disappointment for what was at one time a really nice course years back when I last played. This place has gone downhill big time and won't likely play here again especially at the ridiculous price they are asking to play at regular rates and even at discount rates it is not enjoyable when you cant even make a putt.
Rough greens
Greens in very bad shape from winter.... Would play again for 40 dollars but would not pay more.
Decent play
nice mature course. good condition overall (greens were bumpy and under repair from the winter) but cant hold that against them.
horrible
The course is poorly manage and taken care of. Although we had a tough winter other nearby courses are in much better shape. An embarrassment to the city of mississauga.
Good value
It started raining so we only played 3 holes. We did get a full rain check for the amount paid. The greens are in need if repair after the terrible winter damage. The course's walking rate is very reasonable and reflects the current condition. Some courses are charging regular rates even though their course is in terrible condition. Lakeview will definitely get by business if they keep their rates reasonable.
Maybe the course should be playable before it is open to the public?!?
I was looking forward to the round as I have not played at Lakeview for about 3 years. By the time I walked off the second green I was thinking of just going back to the clubhouse and getting my money back. The greens were a complete mess, and frankly un-puttable. We established a two putt maximum per hole to account for the conditions. Tee boxes were spotty at best, and it was hard to find even footing. Fairways were also spotty, with lots of dead patches. Overall, I wish I had something nice to say, but I really don't.....
Nice Layout
Winter has been extremely hard on this course. Unputtable greens. This course will not recover enough to make me return this year.
Poor condition
This is the worst golf course I play this season, all the greens are sick and terrible . I feel sorry for those golfer who pay full price to play. None of the green can putt, so embarrassed to brought my friends there. I would not recommend anybody to play there.
Poor Conditions
Haven't played here for a few years, often find better value in the GTA.
I wasn't expecting great conditions due to the winter we had but what I do expect is for them to let you know of temp greens, tarp on some greens etc. this was never mentioned by the people in the pro shop or with an icon on golfnow. It felt like they just took your money without any care. I doubt I'll be back.
Tough winter
The golf course took a beating this winter. Course is in poor shape but the rates reflect the conditions. As for the staff, they've always been great and I'm sure they will have the course back to normal in a couple weeks. Can't complain when you're playing golf. Always fun to play lake view golf course.
Hard winter
Winter was not very kind to this course. The greens were not very good and there were many dead spots. I'm glad I got the 50% off price. I've played it in the summer and its a much nicer course.
Damaged and in poor condition!
Lakeview has been negatively impacted by inclement weather last winter, so much so that greens are virtually unplayable. This is a tragedy for those of you who've played it before. It will take time and $$$ to bring this back to any level of acceptability. If you do play it, be forewarned!
A lot of winter damage
Greens and fairways have extensive winter damage and require a lot of rehab. The course is not up to its usual standards. The greens keeper has a lot of work to do.
