Royal Niagara Golf Club - Iron Bridge Course
About
With a location tucked away between the Niagara Escarpment, the Bruce Trail, and the Welland Canal, Royal Niagara Golf & Country Club offers 27 scenic holes. The Iron Bridge Course is one of the three nines at the club. The first hole runs across the magnificent Iron Bridge, which passes over the rambling waters of the Welland Canal. There are undulating greens and deep, well placed bunkers throughout the golf course. Although all of the courses at Royal Niagara Golf & Country Club are equal in difficulty and beauty, each layout is unique with an interesting set of challenges that pose a formidable test for players of all skill levels.

What a day....
The weather was excellent for November and the course was in great shape, given it was getting ready for winter. The greens were in very good shape and few leaves to distract you. Highly recommend playing this course any time.....will be back for sure.
good
It need more guide to next hole.
We are working on signage for next year
Golfing in November in Canada
The weather was nice, windy and chilly at times but nice for November. The fairways were in very good shape, some of the low areas were wet but still well kept up. The greens were fast, well groomed and pretty much leaf free and they rolled true. There were only about 20 golfers spread out over the 27 hole course, so the pace was how we wanted it to be, no-one pushing or dragging. The staff was very pleasant and patient, the kitchen was open at 8 am for a breakfast sandwich which was very good and reasonably priced. Definitely a course to play and well worth the money. It has it's challenges for the experienced golfer but is also playable for those starting out playing the tougher course.
November golf! We love it. Thanks for the feedback.
November 7th? Awesome
Greens were punched but for late fall golf in ontario it was better than expected.
Very few leaves and perfect soft conditions.
Thanks, yes it is always a challenge trying to get the greens done!
Fun course
Well kept course with a fun to play layout
Royal Niagara worth every penny.
Course was in great shape for this time of year even with the aerated greens. More signage would be appropriate to get around the course layout without getting confused on the next hole/tee block locations. That would probably really speed up play. Overall love the course.
Thanks!
Course was in Excellent Shape
An enjoyable round. First time here. Played in a foursome, with some great guys. Will definitely play here again. Mixture of moderate and challenging holes and fairways. Greens were quick.
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for the review!
To over prices and rated course.
Not really spectacular. Green was not good in shape. Rough was too high, you lose easily your ball.
A Royally Good Course
Hadn't played the course since it opened, but really enjoyed my day. Managed to get in 27 holes just before the sun set. The three nines all have interesting and picturesque holes. The holes are challenging, and there is a price to pay if your shots are too far off course. The greens were receptive, with lots of character. I just wish more golfers would fix their ball marks! I could have easily spent another hour of my day fixing everyone else's craters. Grrr...
Only quibbles were that many of the hole maps were missing the yardages (guess the numbers have peeled off over time), and there's an error on the scorecard for Canal #9 - it's a short par 4, not a short par 3.
Thanks, we are working on getting those signs fixed!
Royal Niagara offers three different 9 hole courses.
I have not played this course in about 10 years but I am glad I did today. I played early in the morning and played The Old Canal course first and I played alone. This 9-holes was for the shot maker as it was smart to play strategic golf to set up your best chance for par/birdie opportunities. The Old Canal was an enjoyable layout. I then played the Escarpment course and met up with a 3-some on the first tee. One of the players works at the course and he offered some incite on placement off the tee and it certainly was helpful. This 9-holes was more out in the open and windier but it offered more chances to grip and rip the driver. I played a full 18 holes with this group as I continued on to play The Old Canal course again as it was a perfect day for golf. The Iron Bridge course was closed due to maintenance, but I will be back to play here again as I enjoyed the conditions as well as the layout at Royal Niagara.
A round with friends ... perfect
We arrived 45 min early and were greeted by a very pleasant starter who has a sense of humour - he suggested we could tee off earlier than our scheduled tee time - nice - during our round we encountered a couple of pockets of course workers who were courteous and respectful of whether or not we were hitting so we can't blame missed shots on them(ha, ha) - bunker placement is fair and most have decent sand - the real negative about this course is that there are quite a few blind shots and with no course map (most Kaneff Golf Courses have them), it meant some surprises - we golfed Escarpment & Old Canal (the most difficult of the 3 nines) & when we come back, and we will, we will request Escarpment & Iron Bridge
Thanks, duly noted for our new course in Caledon!
Historic Niagara Course
Beautiful weather complimented the great conditioning of the course which was surprising given the lack of rain and high temperatures this summer. The course is located along the escarpment and old canal which gives elevation changes and challenges that golfers can appreciate. The course does not have the gps systems anymore and needs tee signage or score cards that could show layouts to benefit new golfers . All in all a good day and place to play to tee it up.
Thanks, we are working on those signs.
Great Course but needs TLC
Went out for a usually Saturday afternoon round of golf with a few buddies. I golfed with a few Buddies from out of town and he suggested he wanted to play her so we went. The course layout is great really enjoyed it. But the greens were awful nobody fixes divots and they haven't been rolled for months it looks like. Had a great day either way but course needs some TLC to make it a better experience.
First time dry, this time soaked
Played this nine a couple months ago, in the middle of one of our hot/drought spells, and the course was baked out. it was brutal. Today was nice and green but very wet, had rain last night/this morning, ended up having cart paths only. Surprisingly that wasn't too bad. Course was in much better shape this time around and the greens were a great pace, very undulated, and a good test of our green reading skills. Next time I would prefer to play from the blue tees for a bit more of a challenge, I was basically hitting wedges into all greens. What was disappointing was they have a good 19th hole with a great patio, but they don't open it till 3pm...we finished at 130. Had to have our post round bevy at the halfway house, definitely a let down after a well played round. Overall enjoyed this nine,I'd play it again for sure
Soggy but good
First time playing this nine. More target golf then the other 2 nines....course was really wet as it had poured rain before we teed off this morning. Greens were a great pace, very undulated, and a good test of our green reading skills.
Nice lay out 27 holes
Nice green fairways, rather soft greens(slow) but kept well. My only criticism is that there are NO water coolers on the entire course and cart girl (one) covering 27 holes is not adequate. Make sure you bring a jug of ice water.
Great course for the $$
Course was in very good shape considering the dry summer we've had. Staff were friendly and informative. It was a great round of golf for the money.
Glad you enjoyed!
Good times by all
Played for the first time here and was teamed up with another 2 people on their first time. Course was in great shape greens were good and was somewhat challenging. Great time had by all. Highly recommend to play this course , as I will again for sure.
