Tangle Creek Golf & Country Club
About
Tangle Creek Golf & Country Club has an interesting layout that combines classic, links-style holes with parkland holes, meaning that there is a mix of open fairways lined with mounding and fescue and tight, tree-lined holes with dramatic elevation changes. Ponds and creeks throughout the golf course come into play on 10 holes and there are almost 50 sand bunkers strategically placed throughout. The front nine is mostly links-style holes with sloping greens and a creek cutting through the fairways. Tangle Creek Golf & Country Club’s back nine plays 300 yards longer than the front nine holes, offering many challenging par 4s and par 5s. There are many scenic holes on the course, including the par-5 opening hole, which plays down a valley then climbs up to a green that is perched atop a hill.

Fantastic Experience at Tangle Creek Golf Club
From the moment we arrived at the facility, the staff of Tangle Creek greeted our group of 12 and assisted all players in beginning their day. We've now made a tradition of playing this golf course on the Saturday and Monday of the Victoria Day long weekend. We are all from Toronto and it is impossible to match the value you receive at this facility. For a reasonable green fee, the course is in impeccable shape and the layout is always exciting for our mix of handicappers.
If you are ever in the Barrie area, you MUST give Tangle Creek a try!
Windy Day At Tangle Creek
Tangle Creek is a course that I have no problem driving the few extra exits up the 400 to get to. It's always in great shape even in April this early. The course is a challenge that needs to be played more than once to feel it out. There is many angles that can be attacked and used to your advantage. Overall, from start to the 19th hole you will enjoy yourself. Make sure to leave time for yourself to enjoy a nice beverage and some food on the patio, as the 19th hole overlooks the course. To me Tangle Creek is a hidden gem up the 400 HWY
Opening Day Fun!
What a nice way to open my 2015 golf season! Upon arriving at Tangle Creek I knew it was going to be a good day, as there was not a cloud in the sky. This was my first time playing here and I was very excited as I have heard nothing but positive words about Tangle. The course was in excellent condition for April, and the staff seemed energetic to start the season. This course definitely challenges you yet leaves you with many opportunities to score well, even with the blowing wind we had this day. Can't wait to be back and try my luck at breaking 80 next time around.
Amazing Course
What a nice course, and for the price you can't beat it. This is a must play course.
Tough but nice course, fairways punched, lost balls on the fairway
Played on a cold, early Saturday morning and luckily just beat the rain!
Conditions were likely not its best, given that we're now pretty late into the golf season. As a result, greens were okay but the fairways were pretty suspect.
They were being aerated/punched, and on a few occasions, balls that would've been easily visible on the fairway got lost for some reason!
The course itself I was told by my playing partner is somewhat similar to Bond Head, in that some holes were narrow and there were many different slope elevations.
But other than that, can't really complain considering the Golfnow price we paid ($29 plus tax for 18 holes+cart). Would definitely come back here, depending on price point (since I'd be coming all the way from Toronto).
very nice track
The course is nicely laid out, it's very fair and at the same time very challenging. The greens are tricky. Its a sleeper course that not many know about, however that will change with time I'm sure. Booking on golfnow.com is a great deal at $50 with a cart. This course in the GTA would be $80 + ....
Look Forward to Returning Every Time
Long, tough, fair, scenic track. Well maintained greens with good roll and challenging pins. Always a good test from the gold tees.
Challenging greens, Excellent GPS system!
Tangle Creek GC is an enjoyable course to play if you receive a competitive rate. The fairways are fairly wide allowing most drives to stray a little. If you have a big hook or slice, bring plenty of balls as you will be searching for your ball in the fescue located throughout this course. Fairways and tee blocks had been aerated so it was difficult to determine if they may have been in pristine condition earlier in the season. Nice to see course enforcing cart path only, otherwise fairways likely would have been ruined. I believe the course was in better condition many years ago.
The greens are fast, some two tiered, and can be challenging depending on pin placement.
18th hole should be changed to a Par 4, although it is always fun finishing with an eagle or birdie!.
Staff were professional & friendly. The GPS system in the cart offers a large screen & very detailed information, including pace of play! Excellent clubhouse, although beverage prices reflect same ($14.50 for 2 beers from beverage cart).
Received a great price on GolfNow, but it would be great to see every day green fees become more competitive.
Extremely interesting holes, with challenging undulating greens. Pick the tees that match your abilities.
We showed up and the pro shop staff immediately helped us and even set us to the starter so we could join up and get out early. The course had many interesting holes, with a premium on straight tee shots because of the long grass that was played as a lateral hazard. (if you hit it in the grass you did not find it!!!) Definitey recommend the course.
Outstanding Course
Tangle Creek is an outstanding golf course with very challenging holes. The greens are very tough and in great shape - tee boxes and fairways have many elevation changes with spectacular views of surrounding countryside. Only issue was hole 10 fairway was being airated and was a muddy mess.
Fall "Summer" Day
Incredible Fall weather showcases Tangle Creek's natural beauty. The course was in beautiful shape. The only maintenance issue for golfers was the aerating of a number of the T-boxes. No issue otherwise. Greens were undulating and fast.
Great value
Course would be in pristine condition except for a few greens that were top dressed. Challenging course for all levels and pace of play is great.
GOOD COURSE...
So many beginners play on field....little slow to play...
Choose your distance
With five tee blocks, this course is designed to challenge you at the level you want to be challenged. Even playing from the whites, we found enough trouble aside from the greens, which are great but you had better position your ball on the same level as the pin.....very tough otherwise. Fairways are in great shape, other than recent divots and you don't want to stray into the second rough which in many spots is brutal. Not a course for beginners or hackers but middle to low handi-cappers will love it.
This course will make you use all the clubs in your bag.
Some holes are forgiving but mostly every shot counts to have a good score.
Nice course layout.
Tee blocks were not well maintained.... Grass way too tall.
The carts are the worst I have ever use, in my 30 years of playing golf. They are very slow and too regulated. They will shut down if you stray in an area your apparently not suppose to be.
Challenging course in great condition
A great course, one of the best in the area. Hilly terrain with lots of fescue makes it very Links style golf. Huge undulating fast greens make putting a real challenge. The overall course condition was excellent
good value
Challenging course. Play the correct T block according to how far you can hit the ball otherwise some carries are too long.
Fairways and greens were in good condition.
Nice course. Greens need improvement.
Thanks. Had a great day at the course. Will play again.
Requires accurate tee shot, penal rough
Green were fast but require attention on reading
Knowing where to miss is a plus, lots of elevation changes
Overall a good test of golf
