Windermere Golf & Country Club

About
Situated on the banks of Lake Rousseau, Windermere Golf & Country Club is at the heart of Muskoka amongst large granite outcroppings and stands of towering white pine. The golf course sprawls across 124 scenic acres, offering stunning views of the surrounding countryside. There are bunkers strategically positioned around the greensides and fairways and water hazards come into play on a few holes. Many holes play right into prevailing winds, adding another challenging element. Windermere Golf & Country Club 's signature hole is the par-3 11th, which features a bunker on the left, a hazard on the right, and wind from every direction. Proper club selection is key on this hole and will be rewarded with a spectacular view.

Very pretty course, but would not go back.
My wife and I arranged a last minute trip to Windermere, as much for the drive as anything. We have actually played the course before, but I think since I retired, my memory is beginning to fail. Should not have gone back! The course is actually laid out incredibly strangely. Many adjoining fairways, which make for dangerous conditions! Also many tees incredibly close to other tees,as well as greens. Very dangerous, as well as making it difficult to tee off while someone else is teeing near you! On a positive note, if you are interested in gardening, this course probably has the most incredible gardens we have ever seen!! A million hours have been spent building gardens everywhere! Nice job!
Won't be back however.
beautiful old resort course
straight forward older type wide open course, no island green gimmicks.
Like stepping back in time
This course is what I imagine golfing 50 years ago was like, but in a good way. Well maintained, fairly narrow. Very picturesque. Greens are rolling and challenging.
the landscaping is amazing
what a nice course. rained in the am , but we golfed in dry conditions. then poured on the 18th hole.
we loved it . fabulous scenery .
Beautiful surroundings
Despite a rainy start, the sun came out for the back nine. Great track, weather made it a bit sloppy but overall in very good condition. No refreshment carts but available at the turn. Well worth the price!
Beautiful Day Up North
I chose to play Windermere partly to add another notch to my Stanley Thompson designed courses belt. I was treated to an excellently conditioned course, that though not long by todays standards was quite challenging due to its elevation changes, narrow fairways, strategically placed bunkers and small greens. The layout with respect to rock outcroppings is not as dramatic as some other Muskoka courses. The property does lack a driving range. (Net provided instead.) I'll be back for a rematch.
Renewed confidence in Windermere condition
Course now in excellent condition. We had stopped playing there because of bad greens keeping. Even so on some holes second cut 3 to 4 inches. Difficult to find ball not far off fairway and to hit out of at our skill level. Slows pace of play.
Grounds crew courteous. Moved off the fairway when we were hitting. This often does not happen on a Golf North course near Waterloo Ontario.
Great price with Golf Now. Pretty course. We will play there again.
Beautiful course
We played when most tourists have gone home so the course was mostly empty. This is a well laid out course, the greens where in excellent shape with many subtle breaks, and the fairways where cut and in excellent shape. We played in under 3 hours, had a refreshment and a shower and left after being there for only four hours. I wish I could play golf like this more often. The staff where extremely helpful and we can't wait to play again.
Beautiful Course
Amazing course, the staff was very friendly. Great deal for this beautiful course
Muskoka Rocks!
Very playable course with scenic landscape. Great elevation on several holes and minimal blind shots. Greens are well manicured and smaller than other courses of this caliber making your approach more of a challenge. Always good to see the maintenance crew on course to properly upkeep. Will visit this links again :)
A special treat
If you are in the Port Carling , it is a must play. You will not be disappointed in any aspect of Windemere.
October Golf in Muskoka
This is an annual event for me and this year was one of the best. Slightly cooler and windier than normal but always a great time. As a year round resident it is one of my favorites courses in the area. I have been playing here for years and always look forward to my round or 2 at Windermere. Great job in the recent years improving the course and the grounds. Looking forward to next year already.
Great fall day
A great fall day of golf.
Bought this round as a gift
Aeration
Greens were aerated on Sept.16th. No mention on the web site.
Bad on you Windermere....
Still not posted on the Web site.....WHY...........
Best Value in Muskoka!
I've played all the "top end" courses in Muskoka, and they are all beautiful and most are worth the investment; with that said, Windermere combines beauty and value like no other. You feel like you're playing a Muskoka course, and then there's enough $$ left in your wallet for the 19th hole.
Great condition, great food, great fun!
The course was very enjoyable, in good condition.
The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The golf course was in good condition, particularly the fairways and greens.
happy round in muscoka
Wow! It is a beautiful course.
Natural scenic view is great.
Great course and awsome scenery
Great course! At the start it does have a putting green, chipping green, and a hitting net which is a great way to start off.
The back shop kids grabbed my bag and put it on the proper cart relayed inside by the pro shop- very professional!
The course was in great shape, well manicured, and the muskoka scenery was great to look at and added well with flowers and red mulch.
I was told by the guy I played with that there were some renos done with 17th green and the 18th tee box; from the blues on 18 it says 252yrds but looking at it I thought it was longer by 15-20 because I took some off my driver and hit it onto the green (normally hit 280-290)
All in all great course! I will play everytime I'm at Windermere.
Excellent day
Challenging, food was expensive, but would definitely recommend course.
