great layout
great course. greens could use some work. Great value I will be back.
Sunday funday @RPGC!
Two things I look for when playing a course that I haven't played before. (1) and probably the most important in my book, the greens. (2) customer service in the Pro Shop and staff. With that being said, RP hit a hole-in-one on these two.
Played Augusta and Biloxi courses and both are great condition. The greens are fast and some had tricky pin placements, which made them challenging and fun. Small things I also look for, like the range (which balls are included with round, A+ in my book RP) small but in good shape. Water and restrooms on the course, both had plenty. Fresh ice and water at the turn. All to which make the round more enjoyable.
In conclusion, I will say that I would recommend this course for anyone wanting to take a small trip out and play a quality course.
Pace of play
We had a threesome walking behind us and they were staying up with us!! Could not believe the pace we were able to play a to on a Sunday morning!!
Overall decent shape
course was a little dry (due to not much rain recently) - but overall, it was in fairly good condition. This was my first time playing here - good course and excellent "hot deal" price - I'll be back.
Good Friday play day
Very nice, good pace, we had 5 and we couldn't get an extra cart so I had to walk the course, a gentleman that worked there let me borrow his personal push cart, that was very nice of him, easy course to walk.
Good Course. Great People
They have a nice established course. I could tell immediately they put some money into the place. It's a nice club. There are three nine hole courses. It was a nice round of golf. I would definitely recommend this course to another golfer. I more than likely will return to play this course next time I'm in town. Also, the food is great!
Good Course Overall
This course was good and worth the GolfNow app price. It is a good course and I haven’t played it in a while, so I remembered some of the trouble spots, most too late. Several areas require “smart golf” and not power golf, as several hazards are right around a decent drives distance. It is in great condition and I will play it again. The only downside is it uses gas carts, so a little loud and two groups in front of us had to have a cart swapped out halfway through the front nine. Also, we did not see a refreshment cart the whole time we were there. It would have been nice to see one a couple times that day.
Not a happy place for non-members
Poor pro shop staff, and just rude members over talking about how the club needs to be private again, b/c all these new people coming to the course is ruining their club. Not a welcoming course to play as a vistor.
River Plantation C.C.
Found this course on Golf Now, and the pictures online look very nice, however after arriving, we saw that the course was in below average condition. The greens were a 3 or 4, depending on the hole. The fairways were a 4 and tee boxes were a 4. It was an ok round for the $20 we paid, but not worth more. It appears that this course was nice back in the 70's
River Plantation
Enjoyed the round. Staff always great. Course in pretty good shape for time of year.
Look forward to playing again.
Fair
Greens weedy, dry, and poor condition. Fairways dry. Good value with Golfnow prices, but generally overrated.
Coming around.
Greens have some crab grass that need to be taken care of. BUT course is shaping up. It should be really nice in may and beyond.
Fairways in rather poor conditions, had a lot of rain in the past days
Fairways in rather poor condition most likely to rain in the past days, greens need some time to recover.
Ball wash facilities along the course almost not existing
Dont Play here after Heavy Rain !
The course was wet due to previous day rain...fairways do not drain well. Greens were not in good shape (this is March in N. Houston)..they had the bumpy lumps of Poa Annua grass on a lot of their greens....distorting the putting line.
Really Wet
Due to the recent rain, the course was really wet and played really long. The greens were good, we played the Augusta and Biloxi 9s. The course is starting the transition to summer grass, there are many areas that will need attention. We were a twosome and played in about 3.5 hours with a GolfNow deal caddy, so the price was excellent. The layout of all 3 nines are good and each has some challenging holes. If you can get a deal the course is recommended.
attirude
I showed up to play Sunday am, as I approached the club house counter I was greeted by a you can't play here. In response I replied why not, I have paid for my round, I have a tee time, and would like to hit a bucket of balls before I go. they informed me my pants were not slacks or shorts, the were jeans. well they were not jeans like blue denim but a gray material, I had a very nice golf shirt on, my shirt tail tucked in and shoes. I was informed my money was not refundable,.Thank you, Robert S.Avery
Great greens
Greens are in excellent shape for this time of year. Long putts are makeable, no patchy spots to pass over.
Frustrated Foursome
The weather was questionable when we went out and played. The course was very wet and sloppy, the ball plugged off of every shot. The most frustrating thing was we had a foursome and we kept having singles or twosomes that kept coming up behind us. It made it hard for us to enjoy our round of golf when we had to keep letting folks play through hole after hole. Need to have a ranger on the course to join groups up and make it so everyone can enjoy their round.
Good Golf
Very friendly place, and pace was great! Not many memorable holes, except Biloxi 9th. Met 2 new friends, especially Charles. It will be beautiful in the spring. Will be back.
Great for the season
Greens looking very good/great for the season. Few areas, including a hole on the green that are a work in progress. Roll was true and I was making putts! Currently some are being sanded and effected the putts, but will be great in March 2014. I will be back...especially since I made my 3rd Eagle on hole 3 at the Charlston Course!
