The Pines Course is one of three nine-hole courses at Eagle Ridge Golf Club in Lakewood. The Links and the Ridge are the other two. The courses can be played individually or as three different 18-hole combinations. The Pines Course is named after the mature, tree-covered landscape. It and the Ridge Course make up the original layout at Eagle Ridge G.C. They were built over a sand and gravel quarry that was used to help build the Garden State Parkway in the late 40s. The unique and undulating topography is a result of this. The towering pinelands lend a sheltered feel to the course as well as a challenging element to the game. There are also strategically placed bunkers that come into play along the greensides.

CPO but there’d been a lot of rain.

The course was in great shape. We played the day after the non Nor’easter and finished in under 4 hours even with cart path only.

Great place to play

Fantastic course even though they lost 9 holes. I do only play when I can get in for under $80. Always great shape and challenging.

Took away 9 holes

No longer a 27 hole course, only 18 as they paved the land to make room for more housing. Course was very wet, which was strange as it had not rained that much the night before. May be drainage issues with the new construction...

Don’t play here

I used to love evil Ridge, and it’s such a shame. The course felt like it was a course that was discovered in the middle of the wood somewhere. The tea boxes are completely trashed. The fairways had huge tickets all over as if it was being aerated by enjoying airing machine. The greens had divots on them absolutely waste of money.

Ok but pricey.

Many blind shots. Unnecessary cart path only holes. Tee boxes were at times slanted. They should reduce the price.

Over priced

It's an interesting and challenging course and was in decent condition but I got an overall feel that the place is in decline . There were no ball washers or water anywhere on the course. The flags on the greens were old and shredding in some cases. And a weird thing happened. Two young women, clearly not playing were walking through the course. This is never allowed. There are so many good courses in Monmouth county. I won't be coming back here.

Disappointing

Front 9 was ok. Pace was fair. Back nine was almost all cart path only slowing pace. Then I had to walk thru running sprinklers to play my ball. Workers apparently weren't paying attention

Had Higher Expectations

The course may be having some adjustment pains after closing one of the 9's. Pace of play was extremely slow on a weekday afternoon. Took a little over 5 hours. We were behind an outing where groups were playing a scramble which I thought would be quicker but alas was not. Then midway on back nine a group of 5 people jump in front of us on a par 3 while we are on the tee waiting. They were apparently in a league and they maybe started on the wrong hole but it was a bit baffling? The course was a good layout. Challenging for sure. Lots of people though seem to not care about fixing divots and ball marks. The staff was very friendly. When we finished we were talking to a someone there who said that over 5 hours was the norm after they shut down the ridge 9. They apparently are spacing tee times at 9 minutes apart which is probably not helping. Oh, also on one hole there were a couple kids fishing in a pond that we had to hit over on our second shot. Probably from the nearby houses. It was disconcerting. They should have a ranger helping with pace of play and such things.

Think twice

I’ve been coming here for years. I don’t like the “links” nine. Never have. Was really hoping to play the original 18 but they informed us on arrival that the front nine is gone to builders. If you know Lakewood, you know the drill. Very sad to see that go. Now you are stuck with teeing off at 10 and the dump 9 on the back. Construction around the main area and the range is a mess. Course is in decent shape but the slowness of play is brutal. Pro shop staff very nice. Overpriced course in my opinion.

Great course. Especially the “Links 9”

Beautiful course in excellent shape. Greens were a tad slow and spongy but it was in the mid 90’s and they were probably just trying to keep the greens alive. Had to dodge the sprinklers a few times! Was at the Jersey Shore and looked for the best course on Golf Now in the area. This is one you don’t want to miss.

Dehydrated

A great challenging course of 3 nines. Each are in excellent shape. but one things missing from each - Water!!!! This summer is especially hot and rainy. I played a day after a severe storm, so carts were not allowed on the courses. That extra walking and hiking uphills means sweating a bit more and more water is needed to stay hydrated, yet since the days of covid no water is available on the course. There is a cart person, but only one to cover 3 courses. Not enough! NO WATER is a law suit waiting to happen
