Casa Blanca Golf Course

About
Leon Howard built this course in the 1960s. While his front nine is a decent layout that can be challenging, the back nine doesn't seem to flow with the remainder of the design. Water comes into play on only three holes. The hardpan fairways allow your ball to roll well.
Your best birdie opportunity is the 130-yard No. 8. And if you score well on the front, you'll be delighted to see the first two holes on the back, which are both par 5s under 500 yards from the back tees. The number one handicap is 524-yard No. 4 hole.
Getting there : Driving east on Hwy 59, exit on Lake Casa Blanca. Proceed to the dead end, then turn south on Dakota. You will be able to see the course straight ahead.

I only play here out of convenience, proximity, and low cost. If I'm not in a rush, I always choose to go to Max Mandel.
My experience on Aug 22 2025 was better than normal. I've been in Laredo TX for work this year, and Casa Blanca is an easy course to get to and play on an off day. So I've played here a couple dozen times, but yesterday I met some staff that I haven't seen before, they were wearing matching uniforms, they were very friendly and competent, the carts were washed and prepped for handout, and they made sure I was taken care of. I hadn't experienced any of that at Casa Blanca until yesterday. Hopefully those changes are permanent.
Course conditions are rough. Lots of dead and dying grass. It's fine if a course wants to have "desert rough" but CB can't seem to get their grass to take hold in many spots, not just in the rough but in the fairways and greens as well. Their greens have inconsistent firmness with some spots being cement-hard while other greens are entirely soft and spongy. All greens are very patchy. A lot of golf course blemishes can be overlooked if the course has great greens, but CB's greens are shoddy at best.
The course is easy to navigate. There are a few risk/reward holes that make you strategize from the box, but mostly it's driver, wedge, putt. Some of the greens are well guarded and most greens have some character to them. The course has great potential if only the grounds crew were able to do even a moderately good job.
I'm not a landscape or grass specialist, but I've never seen a course mow their fairways, or turn on random green-side sprinklers in the middle of the day. Seems like grounds crews always mow early morning or late at night. Maybe super hot desert conditions are different? Or maybe these guys have no idea how to maintain grass in south Texas soil.
Memorial Day Outing
Had a great time with family and friends at Casa Blanca GC. Oscar and his team have been making strides on this course. Some of the greens need some help around the perimeter but you should be playing to the center anyway.
Keep improving the course Oscar...going great!
Bringing it Back
Kudos to Webb County for investing nto this course.
Oscar and his team have been doing a great job bring this course back to life. I'll continue to play here as long as I can and recommend this course to anyone!
Played this course while in town on business. Staff were friendly. Pace of play was great. Course needs some help on greens and fairways. Some spots were great, some were not. Not a bad value for the price. I will probably play it again if I’m in town and have some time.
👍
Casa is great for the money. Fun fun. Cars are not being kept up with but they work fine… dirty
Breakfast Ball 956
Casa Blanca always brings the best to an enjoyable round of golf.
Nice course layout!
Had a great time at Casa Blanca golf! Golf carts are upgraded with touch screens with course layout and you can connect your phone for music. Never felt rushed! I would go back again.
Not worth it
If you’re looking for a real golf course in the Laredo area.. look up The Max golf course. Casa Blanca needs a lot of work.
Laredo Bound
The last time I played this course was 20 years ago and remember that the ball would go a long way because there was no grass in the fairways. It still goes long way. Pace of play was delayed because of the number of people that were trying to play out of my fairway or driving in front of par 3 greens before I could tee off.
It will be a while before I play there again and only hope that management does its best to improve course conditions.
