Nice track but needs improvment
Overall I like the layout of the course and have played it 5-10 times. The greens are fast but some are not maintained around the collar. My biggest problem is the lack of grass in the fairway. I don't think I have ever been able to play a shot without moving it to a nearby patch of grass. Good value though. Hope this helps!
Good Country Course
I love going to Texas National. The staff is cool, the crowds are small, and the course is a good value. The greens roll smooth and it is a sneaky little course. Go check it out.
Staff and service
Excellent staff. Service was great. Enjoyed the whole experience, will go back again.
Home course!
I love this course! I've been playing on it for over 5 years and it's always a great play! Great value for the money and it's beautiful!
Rustic Charm
Texas National is an older course set back in the woods of Willis, TX. Very quiet, peaceful, relaxing with a rustic charm. Course is in decent condition but to simple "get away" and enjoy a round without slow foursomes everywhere, it's great place to sneak off too.
Needs a Marshall
It needs a Marshall . This is the second time I have got behind slower golfers and won't lett you pass.
Good Course, Challenging and beautiful
I did not play well today, but my game was off. The course was great as usual. A little cold and windy burt we had a good time. Great value.
Texas National
Fairways in average shape. Greens in good shape.
Course not crowded. Price was lower than average. Enjoyed the round with my son.
Enjoyable outing
I look for a course that's in good condition, well maintained, & is "friendly". I don't look for the latest bells & whistles as far as amenities go. I do look for a pleasant, spacious, pleasant & quiet course. Tex Natl meets these criteria for me. I'm not too hard to please & very loyal. Will continue playing this course as long as I can. Very affordable, pleasant experience.
Cart girl
I don't like guys playing up our butts. Also, the food and drink cart girl doesn't know what she's doing. Drives the cart while I tee off.
good value
Good course from the tips. Makes you have to work the ball.
Peaceful retreat
This is a tranquil golf course that features a lot of elevation changes that really present a challenge.
Course has some good holes
The course has some good holes, but it is not in very good shape now. I played this course back many years ago and it was in pretty good shape at that time but that was long ago and it is not close to that anymore. To be fair it is still a good deal for twenty bucks and on some days you get a hotdog included. If you have never played here give it a try and you can see how challenging it is, just because it is not in great shape doesn't mean it's not fun!
This course has great features
I was so great enjoy times.
Because they are so kindly like friendly.
I will visit often.
Quiet course in the country
Great course, great value but the pace needs to be managed. There were groups hitting into us while we were in the fairway.
Lots of up and down
Course was in very good condition. Quite wooded course. Lots of wildlife. I didn't play well but really enjoyed the course. I will play this course again.
Fun & challenging for higher handicappers like me!
Staff is friendly. Course well maintained. Only 3 suggestions: Purchase or make new tee box markers so they can be seen easily; Need more distance markers in fairways & re-mark cart path distance markers; keep bar area open a little later for those playing in the afternoon!
Great value
Was able to get on for 12.50 and where can you get that deal any more? The course is in fairly good shape but could use some attention in places. A few of the greens were slightly distressed but overall putted true. Played in under 3 hours.
An old gem has been polished up
For those who remember Texas National from many years ago, and those who have played it in the last decade but not recently, you really need to make it out to Willis again and check out the new and improved course. New management has taken over in the last few years, and they have worked wonders. The course is in great shape, a beatiful little track running through tall, tree-lined fairways, but the biggest improvement is in the greens, which are now as good or better than I have ever seen them, and my experience goes back over 30 years. They are fast and smooth and a pure pleasure to putt on. The fairways are in decent shape as well. Some of the rough areas aren't in the best condition yet, but hey, youre NOT supposed be hitting it there, right?
Take the time to drive out to Willis, and enjoy the VERY much improved Texas National Golf Club - for the price it might well be the best deal in town!
