Get what u pay for
You get what you pay for. Can't expect to be playin on a course equivalent to redstone or something for only $20. I wouldn't pay anymore than that though for that course. Pretty scenery and a few holes are nice looking. A lot of your shots you take are like hitting off the cart path though. Little reward for stayin in the fairway. Once again, can't expect awesome when u pay $20.
Great layout, needs work
Nice undulations and landscape but fairways and greens are pretty rough. Probably more to do with winter conditions...will be nice to see how it improves in the spring.
Very enjoyable
The staff was very welcoming. It is a hidden gem. Would recommend it to my friends.
Course needs some TLC
This COULD be a great course. It needs more than just mowing to make it nice...fertilizer would help!!! The fairways have very thin if any grass and the greens are full of weeds. The greens are rolled to keep them flat but they severly need attention.
The course was a little wet.
Thsi course has some elevated holes and tee boxes. The pace of play was good. The staff was excellent.
Good value
I like the topography of the course. Being close to Houston, it is nice to play a course that isn't flat. There are lots of trees and only a few houses in view, so it's more like being in a forest than being in a neighborhood. All the holes are unique and require different strategy unlike some courses where most of the holes look the same.
Price is right.
Short course, great practice course...
Will make you work the ball, left to right and right to left. Greens need serious attention....two were almost solid mud with no dead grass whatsoever (wintertime). If your looking for a cheap way to work of draws and fades...this is the course for you. Not a course to rely on spin when hitting greens though...just play higher trajectory shots for a soft landing...
Watch out for your belongings!
We booked this course because of the price. For $15, you get what you pay for. It's February, so the greens don't have any grass.
BEWARE: I left a $150 pullover in the cart and realized it when I was 10 minutes away. When we went back the guy in the pro shop said that nobody had turned it in and was pretty shady about it. (Of course, it was probably in his car.) We will not be returning here. Don't believe the website for course layout either. Better prices and deals are to be found without driving out so far.
Fast Round
The course is built in a wooded area and a lot of the fairways are lined with trees so you need to keep your drives straight. The course is challenging and the greens are on the small side so you need to be accurate with your approach shots. The greens are a little dried out over the winter but on the whole the course isn't bad. We played a fast round even with a couple of slow players ahead of us. Enjoyed the warm weather and a good game of golf.
Fair ways bad and greens worse
Hit ball middle of fairway no grass, greens just as bad.
Great value
Challenging, and the time we were there, we had ample time to play the course. Being from out of the area, I'd guess that the course is in a state of coming back to it's original operation. There's a few things that could be better- the distances to the the greens and although there was a location card in the cart (C location on our day) there wasn't any green depths to estimate the pin location. I like playing this type of course; the employees are very friendly and you feel welcomed and I like taking for the underdog- I wish them a very good 2013 and subsequent years.
The course has great features
I really enjoyed the course it was my first time playing it and it had some interesting holes. The par 5s were where you could get there in two but there was trouble in spots. The greens rolled good. Was very pleased for the price.
Very poor fairways!
The fairways have very little grass and are hard to hit off of. The greens weren't much better. They are all brown, a little rough and hard to read the curves. The only thing green and in good shape with nice green grass is the tee boxes.
good practice course
they are rying to bring the status back but they have a ways to go
Needs attention
Seriously, this might be the least enjoyable course I have ever played. There was no grass at all on the greens, it was like putting on concrete. Actually there was little patches here and there that you could use to play pin ball to get your ball in the cup! The fairways were pretty bad too, lots of sand in the fairway. Needs a lot of TLC!
Positives: The layout was different and challenging. The sand traps were maintained. And at least it was cheap.
Me personally, since this place is 1 hour from my house, I would not come back out if it was free.
Great way to play a course with hills fairly close to Houston.
Great way to play a course with hills fairly close to Houston.
some fairway, bunker and green attention are required..
we play often...we always go through groups since we as a twosome play very fast...play in less than 3 hours is the norm...fairways are very skinny and greens need deep verticut to get thatch and weed out...sand traps need sand... the layout is very good and my son and i play on sundays once a month...it is well within my budget for golf
Not bad for the money. Staff not woo much
Fairways are pretty bad. Greens are pretty good. Some really cool elevation changes on some of the greens. The guy in the pro shop acted liking I was wasting his time being there. All I did was ask for some range balls. Minus guy in pro shop. Not bad.
Well worth the drive!!! Felt like a part of nature...
Our foursome was well challenged... We had to hit from every lie possible... Had rained the night before, no real water issues... Greens well cut, little soft and slow due to rain night before... A must! Save time to eat at the grill...
Course is ok and has a full range of challenges
I play here a lot and enjoy the layout and challenges. Lots of trees. The fairways grass is starting to suffer and the greens are starting to get bad.
