Bunker practice, White Sands National Monument Photo submitted by DYakimec on 03/01/2019
Beware of the “sand” traps
We were told by the starter that there were 80+ bunkers on the golf course. Every bunker I was unfortunate enough to visit had very little sand, making it very difficult to play. Course layout was great, very challenging and very beautiful.
To the golf course, buy some sand for your bunkers, I should not have to damage golf clubs to play out of your rocky bunkers!
Awesome time
Tough course, wind didnt help but still beats anyday at work!
Nice winter day on the course
My wife and I played alone on a nice Sunny day with little wind. The course was in excellent condition considering the time of year! We are visiting from Canada and enjoyed the course. Good choices for tee boxes. Our only dislike was the (in our opinion) over abundance of big sand traps! They were everywhere! Others than that, 1 birdie and a handful of pars we were happy with the layout. Price was good.
Redhawk
Great course for our area, awesome staff, love the practice range, and chipping and putting green. Keep up the good work, love that everybody fixes their divots everybody plays a key to playing there. The only bad thing is the desert, but stay in the fairway your good all the way through
Course needs work
I play this track often. It's a good course and challenging. Previously ( 2 weeks ago) I had no less the 10 ground under repair drops. Yesterday it seemed better with more rain, however lots for areas in rough shape.
Staff here is always a pleasure.
Much improved
played here 6 weeks ago and conditions were pretty bad. Now fairways are lush, similar to overseeding. bunkers have lots of new sand and serious grooming took place. look forward to playing after rough gets mowed because it is deep!
Get ready for lots of ground under repair drops
Really went down hill. 12 ground under repair rope drops. Take me off your email list.
Play a different track
I used to play this course. All the time, and it was in excellent shape. Now it's almost unplayable. The fairways are torn up, sand traps are terrible.. Prices the same with qualities gone way down..
People are always friendly but I used to look forward to this course not so much anymore.
Redhawk Golf Course
I had not played there for about 3 months and the course has gone downhill. Large sections of the fairways were dead and roped off. Tee boxes were only fair and greens were slow and sandy. The sand traps were mostly unplayable, either had as concrete of with half full of water.
Room for Improvement
This course has the potential to be one of the premier courses in the region. Great layout, although it’s a little tight in areas for a links course. Extremely warm and friendly clubhouse staff, which makes up for the pro shop being an eyesore. Decent facilities.
The weather has been brutally hot this summer but I can’t defend the conditions of the course at the moment. General maintenance on bunkers, tee boxes and around the greens leaves much to be desired. There’s so much overgrowth in areas that could be cleaned up to keep the course looking better-maintained.
The Starters at this course are awesome! I have great exchanges with them every time I play. I was disappointed with a conversation I had with one of the Rangers during my round. I did have pace of play issues this day and when I shared my displeasure about the groups in front of me with the Ranger, he was pretty dismissive. I think there were etiquette issues he’d rather not address.
Like I said before- this course has all the potential, but the current conditions are concerning. Unfortunately, there’s not a lot of golf courses in this area and this course is owned by the same folks that own Sonoma Ranch. The conditions are poor and rates are higher than the quality at both courses at the moment. I will only play here again on discounted or twilight rates until the conditions improve or rates match the experience provided. $74 for a weekend round here right now is just silly.
