A fun and challenging course.
We were a twosome with a 7:20 tee time. We actually teed off at 7:10, as the original 7:10 joined the 7:00. When we arrived, it was apparent that an Outing was starting to form. It was then that we learned a 70-80 person outing was starting at 8:30. The brunt of the group was going to start on the back, but the front was also going to be used.
Needless to say, when we made the turn, the log jam began. It was hit and wait for the remainder of the round. That was a big disappointment. Our round was already purchased on GolfNow, so refund was not an option.
We were excited to play this course as it was our first time, but won’t let this bad experience stop us from going back. We would only hope that the Course/GolfNow would make this known before booking.
Solid as a Rock
This course is close to me and I would play it more often if it wasn't so hard to get a decent tee time. But I cut out of work early on a nice but hot day and got the whole round in once the league foursomes completed their nine holes.
The course is a good mix of difficult and scoreable holes, with nothing tricked up but there are A LOT of hazards to avoid which you can do with good course management. Greens run true but there are tricky breaks and some greens are very tilted so watch out for hard pin placements.
In every respect The Rock is the equivalnt of more prominent courses and worth the drive for anyone who can get to I-95 within an hours drive.
Great course for the value
Course was in great shape. The pace of play was very slow causing us to leave early. The back nine we waited 10+ minutes at each hole to tee off. Very friendly staff and saw the cart girl often.
Besides pace of play some of the tee boxes were very obstructed by some very over grown weeds. Maybe time to get in there and trim them down especially some in front of red tees.
Great value
This place is a lot of fun and a great deal for $65 on a weekday morning. The greens were glass!
Always a great play
Quick round on short notice, little over 4 hours on a Saturday afternoon, can’t beat it. Enjoyable pairing as a single. Great conditions!!
This course is a nice little test for your short game, and your irons and Hybrid.
There’s some tight fairways where you would need to use your irons or hybrids, the par threes are tough little tests, the greens were super fast even in the afternoon.
Great app
Love this app, I can find multiple times with multiple courses within a short distance to my home
Improvements
Trees and such needed to be trimmed down on hole 13 can not see the fairway from the tee box makes your tee shot difficult to locate any ball that may not have found the fairway.
Picturesque
The course is lovely to look at and generally in very good condition. The bunkers were very hard, maybe need some more sand, and the greens had been aerated and were slow and patchy. It’s early in the season though and overall it was a very enjoyable experience.
Great deal to play RN
Course was in great shape but back 9 was real slow and saw no Marshall on course.
