Not worth the $$$
Greens are poorly maintained and pace of play extremely slow. Either charge less $ per round or use some of that $ to pay groundskeepers to repair the divots on the greens. Management packs too many people on the course per day.
Well manicured!!
Always in great shape. The greens roll fast and true. It’s a nice layout for both beginner and advanced golfers. Always on my short list of courses to play.
Iffy greens
Course was in really good shape all around, except for the greens, which had an unbelievable amount of marks on them - it’s like nobody fixes a mark at all ?
My yearly visit
The rock is the closest course to my house, but it’s a bit pricey for me and the long standing history of 5 hr rounds, is why I only play here once a year. ( And hopefully on a deal)
This course gets a lot of play and it shows in places, especially the greens. They were quick and true, just a lot of divot marks. We had a good amount of rain the day before so we were Carr path only.
Our pace as a 4some was good. 4hrs 20 minutes, but I kept hitting away from the paths or it could of been better. All bunkers were great and had rakes!!! YEAH!!!
Love the course
This course is great for the price, layout, staff friendliness and challenge. It’s always great to start a round when you’re welcomed by a friendly starter who gets you going for the day. The course has it’s challenging holes and short par 3’s and 4’s but gotta avoid the well positioned bunkers and slopped greens. I recommend this course for newbies, average and advanced players. Can’t wait to go back!!!
Pace of play
If you intend to not finish 18 holes at any given time, be my guest.
Pace of Play
I’ve played here for over 5 years off and on. Almost every time I play, I don’t finish my round and I hardly ever play with 3 more players. It’s due to tight, back to back tee times and players who do not know golf etiquette. There’s no reason why this course should be backed up at all times and there’s no reason why people are teeing you multiple times with people waiting to hit their shot. It honestly feels like Rock Manor has improved the course but are jam-packing as many people on the course as possible due to what’s going on in the world. It’s a shame because the course is good. Also, the people who work there don’t have the greatest personality. The former assistant manager or so was a jerk for the longest time and it always was something I thought about when booking a tee time but I come back due to being close to home; and that’s probably the only reason why I go back but last weekend was the last straw. It gets really old not being able to finish your round when spending good money. No thank you- I’ll take the ride to White Clay or Deerfield.
Great to be back
Great to be back on the links. Young guy who was the starter gave was super helpful with course tips and advice. Found the layout really rewarding- don’t have to hit driver on every hole.... but man those greens are brutal (positive note). Tons of undulations and quick, making the course a good test for my game. Fairways and tees absolutely lush. Worth the price, I’ll be back!
Sneaky
Some holes at the tee box look like no big deal. Then you realize you just 3 putted.. Approach shots MUST be below the hole. The greens are outrageous, and I mean that in a good way. This coarse has a lot of interest being and older coarse . Each hole is very different. No back and fourth cookie cutter stuff. Lush and grown in.Feels like a grand daddy that commands respect. You just can’t blast off the tee box and hope for the best. You can’t really get home from the next fairway like some other tracks. I played much better on the back once the course put me in line and I realized that I had to think a little more . All in all, very pleased. Looking forward to playing it again with a different perspective.
