Slow pace of play, over priced
I've played this course a few years back after it was renovated, though the pace was very slow, the price then was about $45, and the coarse was in great shape. We hadn't played since because the pace is really slow, but tried a later tee time in hopes the pace would be faster. Surprised that the course is now $69 for weekend, the rough is nothing different than what you find in my lawn, fairways were patches of several different varieties, but we're in fair condition. The greens were in poor condition, and the pace on the front nine was still bottle necked on the same holes, 5, 6, 7, 8. We teed off on 10, had know one in front of us, so not sure why 1-9 were that bad. Cart person we saw at 10:30, and was missing until 1:30 ( should have stopped for the hot dog mid-round), dogs were under cooked, and cold. The reason this review is only 3 stars is because at $69 I expect a much better experience and conditions. Tee boxes are too close to the greens, so spread the tee times, get more cart people if you can't make it around the course in better than 3 hours. Chances of playing again are slim, which is a shame given the great Job done on the remodel and location.
Plays Long
First time playing the course and was impressed with the overall look. There was a good deal of wind, and made the course play very long. A few tee shots from the black's had 170-220 yard carries. #2 and #12 stick out as tough off the tee.
Green's were sandy and still had punch marks.
GPS in the carts was a plus.
Teed off early, and could have been a quicker round if the group in front was pushed a bit - but 4:15 with the wind isn't too bad.
sweet
Sweet course great shape good people.highly recommend it was in great shape people there a good people the price was good enjoyed myself very much the food and drinks after golf were fantastic and I just had a lot of fun the people they're good people.
Rate of play, rate of play, rate of play
This was one of the worst rate of play experiences I've had at any course. They sandwhich people off of the front and the back to cram as many golfers on the course from the crack of dawn. Our tee time was then 30 minutes late and there was 3 groups on each hole. It was a 6+ hour round of golf. I think at hole 12 and we were at the 4 hour mark it was worse than sitting in traffic. The conditions weren't great either. There's a reason the course is called Rock Manor - the greens are rock hard and nothing holds on them. The tee boxes were also in fair shape at best. If you have all day to spend not enjoying golf - sign up.
Great fun course
Great course. Greens were in awesome, fast condition. We, did, get stuck behind an older group of members, who thought they were on the Champion's Tour, or were playing for $1000 a hole. Other than that, we can't wait to go back.
Glass like greens
The greens are extremely fast so took some adjusting to. The course was crowded but the ranger was a bit of a pain. Our foursome was 3 minutes off pace after 11 holes but he nudged us twice because we were a hole behind the 3some in front of us. According to him we were 15 minutes behind despite the GPS saying we were 3 off. Didn't find any of the employees particular friendly and welcoming, nobody was rude but I am used to a more welcoming environment.
Just ok
The place looked great from 95 on our way to OCMD for a golf weekend. So we booked it for the way home. The back was beat up and the front was tight and overlapping... A couple greens we close and balls were flying everywhere ... Maybe a little later in the season the course might be in better condition. But for $79 in April it wasn't worth it...
Tricky greens
Good value for $40. Pace of play a little slow due to a finishing tournament (4 1/2). Greens were fast and had a lot of undelations. I would play this course again
Slow, poorly managed
Course layout is good, greens were in fair condition for April. Pace was very slow. I did not see any Marshals/Rangers on the course. The group ahead of us played as a five-some after the third hole. There were three guys managing golf carts as it appeared they didn't have enough carts for a full course. For the price, it's not a good value. Overall, it seems poorly managed. Many ball marks not repaired, bunkers not raked, Divots not replaced, tells me the course attracts a lot of classless golfers.
Fast Greens!
Don't forget your wedge! The greens are quick so your next putt may be a chip. Always a fun & challenging outing.
Played early morning
3rd group out on the day. Course in great shape. One of my favorite courses to play in northern de
Course in Great Shape
Arrived at course at 8:30 for a tee time at 9:00 and for a beautiful Sunday morning it was somewhat empty. The staff was very friendly, loaded up our bags(we were a twosome) and allowed us to tee off immediately. We finished the round in a liitle over 3 hours and were never held up. Incredible for the Rock where we have had pace of play issues in the past. Course was in great shape for so early in the season and the greens were fast and true. For $48 it was a good deal and if I was guaranteed a 4 hour round I would play here almost every weekend.
Painfully slow
Nice layout. Charged full prices in mid March and yet did not rake the bunkers or change the cups. One of the slowest rounds ever-5 hours and 30 minutes. Overall not worth the hot deal price of $51.
Fast greens and SLOW play
This course is usually in good condition for a highly played public course. The greens have been fast with lots of undilations. The main criticism is that Rock Manor has historically been very slow to play. Five hour rounds are very common due to less skilled golfers taking many strokes and hunting for lost balls.
If you have the time and patience you will enjoy this course very much.
not great...not even good.
This course has a decent layout and that is about it. The practice facility is okay. It is late in the season, but this course was in terrible condition and the staff is not friendly. As a matter of fact...we never did see the starter and we tee'd off at 11:30. I don't know why anyone would ever play this course when you can go to White Clay creek for the same or less money and play a great well run course with a nice practice facility. I would pass if I was asked to play there for free.
Nice course, good value, friendly staff.
I have played the course a few times over the past few months. I have enjoyed each round and was able to find deals on Golfnow which made the course more reasonable and affordable.
More Customer Friendly
It was the first time I played this course and found it to be great with one exception. When I booked my time for 1PM, management should have indicated a small outing was booked. Due to this outing which went out at 1PM delayed our tee time for over 30-45 minutes and as a result we could not finish 18 holes. This just poor management by the course.
Friendly Staff Course
Public course well groomed from tee box to green accompanied with a GPS cart. Order food from the fairway for a mid round snack. Large greens that require precise putting and nicely cut fairways. I highly recommend playing this course, good time!!!
Nice course.
Nice golf course. A little beat up from heavy play
Not crowded the day we played and moved along nicely.
Overall fun course with challenge.
