Slick Greens
Short course with small, fast greens. From tee to green the course was in nice shape but no one seems to fix a ball mark. The starter and staff in the pro shop were extremely nice. I'll play it again.
you have to be careful on many holes left or right you can run into problems very high grass or water stay in fairway
the only thing i think could be better is that on hot days you do not see the beverage cart enough the guys who work the front do a great job keeping things organized and moving also the bunkers could use some work always very hard to many stones in sand
great day, great course
never waited for a shot, large rainstorm on course the night before made course stunning!
must play this course more
awesome pace and course is in great shape. Kinda far from me but now on my yearly list of must plays. Along with Glenn Mills, wyncote and Broad Run. Totally worth the drive.
Cheap but SLOW....
Sent us off the back in a cart that was dead with a back up of four groups on hole 11. We went back to the starter, got a new cart and played the front instead. Better pace, but still waited on most holes.
First time at "The Rock"
Friendly people started the morning out. Began on the 10th hole for some unknown reason. Course play was nice with minor waiting on a couple of par 3 holes. Was not prepared for the fast greens (9-10 rated) so there were more 3 putts than I liked. Definitely recommend this course to others but be warned it's not for the novice.
Good course for good to average players
Course was in good shape. A couple of greens need work. Well marked and frequent water, ball wash holes. Concrete cart paths in great shape.
The Rock
It's a good course to play. I'm not crazy about the people in the clubhouse. They seem to have a bit of an attitude. The youngsters outside working carts etc.are extremely polite. Unfortunately the course is susceptible to send people offrom the front or back. You could be rolling along at a good pace and find out a few groups were sent off in front of you at the turn. Everything slows down. If you're good at biting your tongue, this course is for you.
Not worth the money
This course has gone up in price for tee times but quality of the greens has not. Not what you would expect compared to other courses for the same price.
Pretty Good, Not Bad, Can't Complain...
But after all these golf courses are all the same... Got a good twilight rate, pace of play was good. Had a group behind us that that got a little pushy. Don't mind somebody hitting to the green while walking off if they are good enough to hit the green. Maybe they were aiming for the cart path???
Electric cart died after 8 1/2 holes, left it in the fairway and walked in to get a new ride. For some reason the back 9 is actually the front and the course just doesn't feel like changing the score cards. The range is adequate but the balls are a buck or two higher than I'm used to for a medium bucket.
The course itself is interesting and fun, Nice mix of open, longer holes on the back and tight shorter holes on the back. Got to use every club in the bag. A few baked spots and some sod in the fairways but not bad overall. Greens play well but were just covered with unrepaired ball marks. Pick up one of those little forked thingies and learn to use it people, your Mother doesn't play here!! Also had a bunch of really nasty spike marks from someone who hasn't gotten the soft-spike memo and doesn't know how to walk with out dragging their toes.
Overall a good afternoon of golf! I'll be back.
rock Manor - First Timer
Great course, nice playing conditions! Super fast greens yesterday, not waiting until the 15th hole.
The driving range mats were weird, 1. - it pulled out my spikes on my golf shoes, that has never happen before. 2. - I had a difficult time hitting my driver since you can not get a long tee in the mat.
I would play this again!
Rock Manor
Good layout, challenging holes, average course conditions
Slow pace of play even at 7am tee time
Slow pace of play, over priced
I've played this course a few years back after it was renovated, though the pace was very slow, the price then was about $45, and the coarse was in great shape. We hadn't played since because the pace is really slow, but tried a later tee time in hopes the pace would be faster. Surprised that the course is now $69 for weekend, the rough is nothing different than what you find in my lawn, fairways were patches of several different varieties, but we're in fair condition. The greens were in poor condition, and the pace on the front nine was still bottle necked on the same holes, 5, 6, 7, 8. We teed off on 10, had know one in front of us, so not sure why 1-9 were that bad. Cart person we saw at 10:30, and was missing until 1:30 ( should have stopped for the hot dog mid-round), dogs were under cooked, and cold. The reason this review is only 3 stars is because at $69 I expect a much better experience and conditions. Tee boxes are too close to the greens, so spread the tee times, get more cart people if you can't make it around the course in better than 3 hours. Chances of playing again are slim, which is a shame given the great Job done on the remodel and location.
Plays Long
First time playing the course and was impressed with the overall look. There was a good deal of wind, and made the course play very long. A few tee shots from the black's had 170-220 yard carries. #2 and #12 stick out as tough off the tee.
Green's were sandy and still had punch marks.
GPS in the carts was a plus.
Teed off early, and could have been a quicker round if the group in front was pushed a bit - but 4:15 with the wind isn't too bad.
sweet
Sweet course great shape good people.highly recommend it was in great shape people there a good people the price was good enjoyed myself very much the food and drinks after golf were fantastic and I just had a lot of fun the people they're good people.
Rate of play, rate of play, rate of play
This was one of the worst rate of play experiences I've had at any course. They sandwhich people off of the front and the back to cram as many golfers on the course from the crack of dawn. Our tee time was then 30 minutes late and there was 3 groups on each hole. It was a 6+ hour round of golf. I think at hole 12 and we were at the 4 hour mark it was worse than sitting in traffic. The conditions weren't great either. There's a reason the course is called Rock Manor - the greens are rock hard and nothing holds on them. The tee boxes were also in fair shape at best. If you have all day to spend not enjoying golf - sign up.
Great fun course
Great course. Greens were in awesome, fast condition. We, did, get stuck behind an older group of members, who thought they were on the Champion's Tour, or were playing for $1000 a hole. Other than that, we can't wait to go back.
Glass like greens
The greens are extremely fast so took some adjusting to. The course was crowded but the ranger was a bit of a pain. Our foursome was 3 minutes off pace after 11 holes but he nudged us twice because we were a hole behind the 3some in front of us. According to him we were 15 minutes behind despite the GPS saying we were 3 off. Didn't find any of the employees particular friendly and welcoming, nobody was rude but I am used to a more welcoming environment.
Just ok
The place looked great from 95 on our way to OCMD for a golf weekend. So we booked it for the way home. The back was beat up and the front was tight and overlapping... A couple greens we close and balls were flying everywhere ... Maybe a little later in the season the course might be in better condition. But for $79 in April it wasn't worth it...
