Course was in nice shape
For as dry as its been in the area, this course was in great shape. They must water the fairways all night because some spots were still wet in the morning, but it made for a green, lush fairway. Anything past the rough was hard as a rock, but everything else was top notch. Most of the holes are fairly easy, with a few challenging holes on the back nine. Groups tend to back up on the par 4 15th hole island green tee box. Everyone wants to go for the green off the tee, (approximately 235 from the whites) but few are successful, making groups to hit again from the drop zone, slowing down play. If you do hit the green an eagle is a real possibility with birdie more of a reality. I go with a group to this course yearly and I believe its in the best shape now than at any time in the past.
The course was beautiful!!!
We had a 4-some and 3 had never played the course. We were all impressed at the condition and beauty of the course!!it was a pleasure to play their and we will be back to play again soon ...
Nice golf course
Perfect for any day get away... the golf course also offers stay and play package. The only thing that this golf course need to work on is to put a good quality sand on those bunkers, invest money on a black top parking lot, and golfers would be inviting more friends or recommending this place to others fellow golfers.
fun course
well designed, forgiving, excellent conditions, challenging, maturing trees, and the famous woods-all in one.
Nice course. Back 9 tighter, more scenic, and better than front.
Nice course. Back 9 tighter, more scenic, and better than the front. Greens slow.
average at best
The front 9 is pretty blah. Flat, open, boring. Holes 12-15 are interesting, even a bit whacky. Those holes are in the forest. Pity the whole course isn't like this. Hole 14 has a lot of elevation change. I wouldn't necessarily rush out to play this course, and I probably won't be back. I figured as part of a "Resort and Spa" it was probably a good course, but unfortunately, most of the course is average at best, save those few holes on the back 9. Oh, and we played the front 9 with no one in front of us, but when we got to 10 tee there were 3 groups in front of us. The players claimed the pro shop told them to go off 10. Very frustrating...
I love this place
Excellent course condition. I've played here about 10 times and never seen the course in poor condition. The staff is really A+.
A secluded gem.
The fairways are as well maintained as any I have seen. The greens are on the small side but not unfair. You will need an excellent short game to score. The bunkers need work.
The back 9 is every bit as difficult as advertised.
The phrase - worth the drive - kept coming to mind hole after hole.
Great course!
Fairways are nicely mowed and tthe rough is not too tall. I really like the challenging back 9.
great time
Course is in great condition will be back tough back nine but fun
Overall, a very good experience!
Friendly staff, small practice area near clubhouse, greens well cared for and running nice, traps in very good condition and the course was accurately marked regarding yardage and other pertinent info. The rough, especially on the back nine, was brutal. Your ball always sinks to the bottom of the grass. There is very little water on the course and what is there has a bad taste. The snack bar seemed to understand the problem and offered large styrofoam cups of water without charge. Two totally different nines. The front was links style and the back was chiseled from timberland. Although difficult, I really enjoyed playing and the beauty of the back nine.
Overall a nice course
Only somewhat complaint is some of the tee boxes on the back 9 aren't very good. This is probably due to lack of watering and/or being in a wooded area. Besides that I have no complaints and will play again.
Nice looking course
... but it was raining. So I asked if they'd give me a 'rain check' and they did.
To net it out, we didn't play, but will do so sometime in the next year (that's how long the rain check is good).
Drove the roads around the course, it's well cared for and has a nice layout.
Secluded retreat
Very friendly staff, played the course with little difficulty. Very few people there, was able to play at your own pace.
very friendly, course well maintained.
Played this Labor Day weekend with my 18 year old Grandson. Many Central Illinois courses suffered from lack of rain this summer, but Oak Terrace Resort was surprisingly well maintained. The staff was very friendly and made certain that the round that we played was enjoyable.
This course has great features.
This course is very well maintained and a good challenge for golfers of all skill levels. The course is not crowded during the weekdays as my wife and I can play 18 holes in 3 hours and 15 minutes. Although a little off the beaten path, this course is worth the drive to play.8
