Oak Springs Golf Course
About
Oak Springs Golf Club is tucked away amid the rolling hills and wooded plains of St. Anne. Though it feels peacefully secluded, it's conveniently situated less than an hour from Chicago. As one of the premiere golf courses in Kankakee County, it has a layout that appeals to players of all skill levels and it's also one of the most affordable rounds in the area. There are some challenging holes but the rough is very forgiving in case hitting it straight isn't one of your strengths. The front nine features fairways lined with mature trees and there are some tough par 3s to contend with. The more player-friendly back nine at Oak Springs Golf Club is wide open and offers some great scoring opportunities. There are subtle but tricky undulations throughout and you'll also run into water occasionally.

Golf Advisor: Top Courses in Illinois (2022 #5)
Reviews
Extremely well maintained course. Was pleasantly surprised with course conditions and layout. Definitely will place this one again. Amazingly friendly staff.
Outstanding track
Greens were recently spiked....BUT are recovering nicely! Great care taken of this course! Food is outstanding and CHEAP! This is truly a outstanding value!!
Communication Breakdown!
Oak Springs is a great place to play golf! It has numerous unique holes that make it a interesting and fun place to play. My beef is with the communication between golf courses and Golfnow. We arrived at the course to find the front nine greens were being aerated. Instead of playing the temporary greens(a hole in the fairway). We chose to play the back nine twice. Although it is tough to complain about paying 13.00 to golf, had we known of the situation we would have played somewhere else.
A favorite course
Oak Springs is a great course to play. I consider it the best course in the county. Greens are always in great shape as are the fairways. The entire course is very well maintained. Staff is always polite and courteous. The course is very challenging and fun to play. Tee boxes are in great shape and well maintained as well. The clubhouse is a great place for a quick meal or a refreshing beverage.
Course in excellent condition!
We live near Joliet and stopped on our way home from Indianapolis thinking that this was just an Ok course. Boy were we wrong. We were pleasantly surprised at how well the course was maintained and loved all the large oak trees and birds. The greens were perfectly groomed and fairways in excellent condition.
Course is popular of the five courses in the county
Four of the five surviving public courses, use to be eight, three have closed in the last 10 years, are similar in their rating. The Elks http://www.elksgolf627.com/ course is over 100 years old. Minne Monesse http://www.minnemonesse.com/ is located in NE part of the county and like the Elks is a pretty course and offers a rolling terrain. Oak Springs http://www.oakspringsgolf.com/ has many old Oak trees and is 40 to 50 years old. Aspen Ridge, my favorite, https://aspenridgegolf.com/, I play in two leagues hear and I'm a member, so prejudice. It is the only course in town being only 5 minutes from my home. It was developed in 1998 and the trees are still growing up. There is a private course in SE Kankakee but it sits only on 60 acres and should not be a comparison. There is also Manteno Golf course but pales in comparison to the top 4. It is not well maintained. It is although the 2nd closest course to the area. Hope this helps, DH
Great course!
I have played at Oak Springs several times and enjoy it each time. The course itself is in beautiful shape and has some challenges but also is user-friendly. I can't say enough good things about the people that work there because they are all polite and make you feel very welcome. The food is also a plus here. I would highly recommend this to anyone who loves golf!
Great value
Although very windy. Course played fun.Cant beat it for the money!
Great Shape
It had been awhile since I played Oak Springs. The course was in "great shape". They have the best course in Kankakee County. I'd play this course again.
The "Must Play" course this year.
I have played this course over the past 35 years and i can say that it has never looked better.
The new General Manager, Zach Mullady is doing a fantastic job!
The was in good shape
It was not the course we had an issue with... it was the staff...wow, they do not like us playing golf now and getting good deals... we have been there numerous times before but this time they were very vocal on golf now users..
Very nice big trees
hit them straight or play pin ball in the trees, its fun
Good course
Nice place, can't beat Hot Deals! Course condition was on point!
Pleasant course to play - trees can be a challenge
This was a pleasant course to play. It was forgiving in some areas and challenging on some holes as you can get stuck in the trees. Hit 'em straight and you can avoid any headaches.
Fast rolling greens
Overall, nice course, cheep beer,, fast greens. Fairways needed mowing, but had an interesting layout.
Course in gear shape
Course was enjoyable to play this time of year. Looking forward to playing again soon!
GREENS JUST AERATED WITH BIG HOLES
2nd time playing this course. Was a bit unlucky and didn't think to call to ask if they had aerated greens. They were in the process of doing so and 3 holes had temporary flags (just for this day). Cannot recommend playing this course for at least 3 or 4 weeks or maybe even until next spring as the greens at the current time just aren't really playable or enjoyable and won't be without significant grow in. Other than the greens the course was well maintained and when the greens are running smooth this can be a fun place to play. Thankfully I booked a $15 hot deal so I didn't feel so bad but they should have put an alert on golfnow or their website in regards the aeration. A $20 to $25 course at most for the rest of this season.
a little gem
The course is a little off the beaten track for the south suburbs, but worth the drive. Not too busy. decent pace off play. The front 9 is quite challenging because of all the trees and the back 9 has less trees, but narrower fairways. Even with all the rain, you can still find your ball i8n the rough.
Well cared for course for a good price
A very well kept course for a decent price. Greens and fairways are in excellent shape. Club house is nice and clean. Drinks are not over priced and the food is good.
