Fox Prairie Golf Course

About
Fox Prairie Golf Course, formerly known as Angus Links, sprawls across more than 160 acres of rolling farmland and mature forests. The undulating terrain is a far cry from the mostly flat courses you'll find in central Illinois. It's also one of only a few public courses in the state that boast zoysia fairways. As the new name implies, the course doubles as a home to several fox families. You can often find them along the tree-lined banks of the creek that wanders through the course, which comes into play on 10 holes. Fox Prairie Golf Course starts off gently with an open front nine but gets tighter and more challenging as you move onto the back nine. Five sets of tees allow golfers of any skill level to play to their abilities.

Fun Layout
This course is out of the way but worth the drive. The greens are huge and on the slow side which I like. There's a nice mix of holes including a few challenging doglegs. The staff is fantastic. We got lost and I had to call the clubhouse to let them know we'd be late for our tee time. Kim answered. She was very helpful with directions and told us not to worry about the time. When we got there, my hubby bought a nice pair of Footjoy shoes at a good price. Everything there is fairly priced. I highly recommend this course.
Fox Prairie
Love the friendly staff at Fox Prairie. Not only is the course laid out and well maintained but the food is great and a great value for the money. The zoysia fairways really set this course apart from others and the greens are large and a real challenge. Great course to recommend.
Love this course
This is one of our favorite places to golf. The course is always well kept, and they have the most friendly staff of anywhere we've been! We always grab a bite to eat in the clubhouse, quick service and a laid back atmosphere.
Best course public course in the area
I think this is one of the best public golf courses in the area, it is well maintained and a fair but challenging golf course the staff is very friendly and courteous so if you're in the area of Windsor ILL go and play Fox Prairie you won't be disappointed.
Nice course
Try to play this course a few times each year. One of the nicest around. Course was in beautiful shape. Can have some challenging hole placements. The lady inside was her usual cheery self. A great course at a great price.
Fox Prairie Golf
Hello,
The course was in great condition for having all the rain this year. I left a range finder in my cart and they tracked me down the next day to let me know. I have lost a lot of stuff over the years this is the first course to call about a lost item.
The hills and trees are great even though I have a tree seeking ball i was not saddened by being lost in them over and over.
Great course, golf now hot deal makes worth the ride from Clinton. (1 hour 15 minutes)
Excellent experience
This was our first time playing this course and it was a wonderful experience even in the 100 degree heat. They had complimentary bottles of water on the course. The course itself was in great condition and the staff was very friendly. We can't wait to get schedule another tee time. Absolutely worth the 45 minute drive!!

Nice course!!!!
the course was in excellent condition, great fairways and greens. Will definitely play again, a couple of blind shots, but if you played it more than once wouldn't be a problem.
Bill
Course greatly improved from last playing new carts and some added asphalt paths very clean clubhouse and very fun to play course thanks
staff
Chris and the rest of the staff worked hard to see that we had a good time and good food.
Nice design
Very nicely designed course. The front 9 played a bit easier than the back due to lack of water hazards on front. The fairways are Zoysia and were still dormant from the winter. The course was very wet due to recent rain. The greens are undulated and average speed for the time of year. If there greens are sped up to 10, they will be all you can handle. Wind is laways a factor on this course. If you are a local, this course can be difficult to find.
Challenging Course
I am partial to this course since it is one I grew up playing on. There are some really challenging holes on this course and can be a bear when the wind blows. Pick the right set of tees and give it a go.
Love the grass!
We love this course, and were happy to see they were on Golf Now. It is out in the country, but the grass in the fairways was in excellent condition. Holes 1 and 18 are the hardest on the course, in my opinion. Just keep it in the fairway and you will have an enjoyable round.
NICE COURSE!!!!!!!
Very challenging, course is in GREAT shape. A must play for any golfer
NICE COURSE
The course is in great shape. Fairways & greens couldn't be better. There have been a lot of improvements around the course. This is a must play golf course, it was worth the 1 hour drive. We are planning on going back soon.
Tale of two nines
Great course! Lush zoysia grass. Large smooth greens with subtle slope. Front nine is pretty open with lots of birdie opportunities. Short par 5's and 4's. Back 9 is much more challenging. All about placement off the tee. I only used my driver twice on the back side. You can run your score up pretty quick on the back. Rained a lot the day before, but the course drained well. Incredible value. I even got to see a fox!
wonderful
Beautiful course in great shape. Pace was a little slow.
this course was a challenge
The course was in good shape overall.
The first time playing it was a challenge.
The rough was tall and thick and made it hard to get the clubhead through.
The greeens were undulating and it was hard to get a good read on them. They were medium speed and in good condition.
A number of tee shots require some target golf with
narrow openings or specific landing areas.
The fairways, where you want to be, were good and provided good ball lies.
There are a number of hazards and water that create some difficult and precision shots.
The clubhouse is just okay and the parking lot is not paved and dusty.
Recent work on course is noticeable
If you went to Fox Prairie/Angus Links in the best couple years, it was a little rough as they switched to zoysia grass, but it is fully in now and looks great. The course offers a lot of variety, switching between narrow and wide fairways and you have to use every club in the bag. A good experience.
