Did you make coffee yet? Nope!
It was a 9am tee time on a Friday in the summer. I skipped over 2 coffee places on the way to the course and told my buddies the course used to be private, they will have coffee for sure. When we get there, the guy in the golf shop yells back to someone in the kitchen, did you make coffee yet. Guy yelled back, sorry no coffee and that was it. Like, why not just make the coffee now? Weird...anyway course was wet from rain but was still in fairly good shape for value and expectations. Cart path was getting worked on and it needed it.
Some really tight holes where you have to hit the drive into a chute. 2 matching holes that are very tough but a great test I thought. Some wide open holes too where you can blow it three fairways over and get it back in play. Trees everywhere, greens didn't have too many ball marks and it was wet in some areas due to the days rain but not unplayable at all.
I wouldn't go out of the way to play it again, but if you are in the area it was a good test and had to hit a bunch of different shots especially if you sprayed it around a bit which makes things fun.
GolfNow rate vs course rate (not GolfNow’s fault)
GolfNow shows a rate of $55 for weekend. Never played this course, was on the way home from another course (Warren Woods at Norte Dame - AWESOME, LOVED IT!!!) and decided to check this course out. I know nothing about this course, review was decent and figured why not. THEN I walked in the pro shop, was asked what my GolfNow rate was quoted at, $55. I look up and sign says “weekend rate $47,” so I’m perturbed, but not hot…..yet. Then I look down and see “twilight everyday after 3 - $30”. Again, not hot yet because I’ve seen the last part many places, as I book through GolfNow all over the country and 100 rounds a year probably. Btw, I’m teeing off at 4:46pm So I get my credit card slip and yep, $55. Now I’m hot!!!! I say to the front desk guy, so it’s more expensive through GolfNow and you don’t honor your own rates??? He proceeds to tell me how GolfNow is way more expensive. I tell him “this is the first course I’ve ever seen this at and I play all over the country!!”” No comment back I proceed to go buy a sprite at $3 a pop and then proceed to the course.
You’ve lost this customer Bent Oak and you are losing customers every day that MIGHT come play because you have booked a bad rate with GolfNow. Now I see why on a day like today there was 3 cars in the parking lot at 4:30 in the afternoon. Good luck, but I will go elsewhere going forward and I will not recommend this course to anyone simply due to this interaction!
Now semi-private
When I found out the course now allows public play, I decided to give it a play. Course conditions were good, greens had recently been aerated. Layout was solid over mostly flat terrain - character is created by the raised greens.
I enjoyed my round, but would not recommend traveling over an hour to play.
Beautiful day with friends
This course was in excellent condition and staff very friendly. It is a pretty long course and lots of challenges. The greens were fast and in great condition. Everyone we encountered was very nice. Hope to go back soon.
Been awhile since i played
I forgot how much I enjoyed playing B.O. Course was in great shape .With soo many trees removed the course is not as challenging as it used to be.
This is an excellent course!
If you are looking for a private club to join in the Elkhart, IN area this is a great club to belong to. The staff is excellent and the course is challenging
