Hidden treasure
The Jeff Elks Club has been known to be a private course and hard to get on to unless you know an Elk and most of time they needed to play with you. I was surprised that it was available to the public. The course was in excellent shape and there was hardly anyone there. I would recommend it as one of the best courses in our area.
Course is interesting.
Enjoyed playing the course. The course was quite wet because of the weather the previous few days. Greens were good and I enjoyed the round.
Challenging but fair
Course was wet from recent rain, but overall in good condition. Greens were mowed and the ball had a true roll to them. Conditions better than most local courses.
Our tee time was 1:00 pm, but somehow we were bumped to 1:08. Another group took our original tee time. (Probably members)
You could tell it is winter season
Condition looked like it hadnt been touched since the fall, bunkers were all packed down, limbs, twigs all over including the greens. Maintenance must be on vacation.
Fun Old School Feel
Have played this course 3 times. Satisfied each time. The course has the feel of an old-school country club from days gone by. Nice combination of difficulties of the holes. First few are relatively easy, then some get much harder (especially on the back nine, #12 is a brute). Easy course to make mistakes on first time you play. Missing greens is a real no no on some holes as the chip or pitch you have left can be near impossible. And many holes, w/ their tree-lined fairways, make driver a risky play. I like that you have to think your way through this course. A good value for the $30.00 or so Golfnow rate. Anything less is a bargain.
Great course
The course is very close and in great shape greens are fast and the people are very friendly
