Old School 9-Hole Course
Course conditions can be spotty, but if you want a great little course laid out over hilly land with undulating greens than come here.
February golf
This was my first time at Madison Country Club. It was February 2 and there was a foot of snow on the course 8 days prior. So I am not judging the course on ground conditions. The staff was super friendly and I will definitely go back after the weather warms up. Looks like a fun place to play.
Don't Waste Your Time
The course is in terrible shape. Greens are long making it impossible to take a normal putting stroke. Tee boxes are understandably moved for the winter but many of the tee box markers are hidden under the tall grass. Fairways are okay but if any shots wander off the fairway you can expect to spend a great deal of time searching for it in the tall grass and piles of leaves, often just a few steps from fairways and greens. Despite tee times on GolfNow before 10:00a, the course doesn't open until 10:00. We booked a 9:50 hot deal through GolfNow and staff did not arrive til 10:15. Had we not prepaid through GolfNow, we would have left and gone somewhere else. Save yourself time and money and go somewhere else, especially this winter.
Close to home
Great local course close to the heart of the city...
Not in good shape
Unfortunately the course is not in good shape based on the length of the rough and the poor condition of the greens. The tee boxes were in extremely poor condition. The staff was curious, friendly and helpful.
Worth a play
Decently challenging course, couple of uphill blind shots into the green. Par 3's challenging, able to spray the ball except for two holes. For a 9-hole course I like it, staff was very friendly.
Par 5's 7 and 8 very tough
Greens good-rest of course average/All 3 par fives cross a deep gully with huge trees getting in the way. These holes are difficult, but the rest of the course is not
fast play
The course plays fas. Most of the greens where in bad shape. the tee boxes were overgrown to the point the grass would knock the ball off the tee. On the white boxes at least.
Nice People, Ugly Course
I don't know if it's how bad we played or the lay of the course, but we each had our highest scores in years . The majority of the fairways are up or down hills. We spent a lot of time searching for our balls in a creek that runs throughout the course or in the tall rough on either side of the fairways. When we made it to the undulating greens (which were in immaculate shape, by the way) we were met with unforgiving hole placements that usually took 3 or 4 putts to finish. The tee boxes were in terrible shape, and a couple were covered with so much tall grass that you couldn't tee up your ball.
It's golf
First time playing course so didn't know what to expect. Tee boxes are not good, grass too high and far from a flat surface, makes it hard to find the perfect spot to hit from. Fairways and greens are in good shape though. Trees make some shots difficult. Will play again, but will not pay full price
Covie failed to show...
Good value... Plan to go back again this week...Plenty of challenges for novice and low handicap golfers...Covie didn't show but still had a good time.
Left before finishing
First time trying this course and was very disappointed. The good things are it was very cheep and there was no one out there. Now the bad; tee boxes were terrible, there was no grass half was weeds and the other half was dead, and while the greens look really nice they're mostly weeds too and very slow. All and all I wish I would have spent that money on a bucket of balls instead.
Nice greens
Greens were in good shape, that's about it. Would only play if Golfnow has it for $5
Great little course
Great little 9 hole course. Course was in great condition, expect a few tee boxes.
Only draw back is you can get a little lost. No paths and you can get turned around finding the next hole... But it was a great course to play. Highly recommend it.
