Boone's Trace National Golf Club

Played there a few times this year and it’s getting worse. Not worth the money at all. Fairways and greens are dead but the layout is amazing. Hopefully they can get it together because I love the layout but I would like to hit off something besides dirt and put on greens instead of patches and mud. $25 course in the shape it’s in.

The conditions were the worst I've ever experienced at the course. We had a group that lived on the course and part of the HOA come up on us at hole 12. That apologized for the condition of the course. The gentlemen were very inviting and cordial, and it was clear that they were extremely frustrated with the conditions of the course.

I've always loved this course, but I can say I will not play this course until ownership commits to investing in keeping the course in top tier shape.

The worst value course for the condition I've ever played. It was pathetic. I've heard the course is broke and can't pay for any treatments so that makes sense.

Very nice views unfortunately this course has seen better days. Several Tee boxes were overgrown with weeds or closed. The fairways were indiscernible from the ruff. We lost 3 balls in the fairways. Staff in the pro shop was very friendly and accommodating. The course had a unique layout. The wife and I still had a great time!

I played there in mid-August, 2026 & the course needs some serious attention. While I got the "the hot & changing weather in KY", I play other courses around LEX and they were not this bad. The fairways had a lot of bare spots, along with the greens. The tee boxes had 2" of grass (not sure when the last time they mowed). The rough was super long (looks like it had not been mowed in a week). Before we teed off in the AM, they had yet to open the driving range, as "the guys are working to re-set it up". when we finished playing around noon, no one was using it as it still had not been setup yet. To me, it's not worth the $60 to play.

Playing here made me sad. It used to be such a beautiful place. I am not sure what happened but it has taken a bad turn in the wrong direction. Hopefully, they can get it back, or at least close to what it once was.

Liked the layout my only was the rough was bery tall for the average golfer. Definitely keep it in the fairway!

If I knew the conditions were as bad as they were I would not have played. I paid full price and stopped after 9. Just bad shape.

Paid full price. Asked for discount but the guy at the register when I checked in said no because it was a weekend. He said nothing about the poor course conditions or why they weren’t taking care of bunkers or tee boxes. Fairways were minimum of 50% usable, bunkers were completely abandoned, weeds overgrowing some tee boxes, greens (mostly on the back 99) were dirt in many spots. I’ll give the course credit that pins weren’t put in dirt areas. Good thinking there. Around the greens weren’t mowed, pace was terrible with no ranger. Beer cans thrown and smashed on the course. No cart girl. No drinking water on the course. No ball where. One trash receptacle but it was filled actually overflowing. Layout could be a decent course. New golf carts with GOD would be the highlight of this course. $20 should be the price to pay. Connemara in Lexington is half the price and twice the course.

Course has severely gone downhill in past couple of years. Played today and wasted money. All the fairways are burnt up and down to dirt in many spots, all of the bunkers are unplayable from holding water (hasn’t rained in a week) several greens are eaten up with disease and many areas of overgrowth have not been maintained and effect the play and overall experience. Dead trees all over the course. Not worth the drive, not worth the $75

Probably one of the worst courses I’ve ever played. Terrible condition

Loved it, I am a little older, so i do not hit as long as i used to. Playing with two big hitters i was able to stay with them, This place is not super long , but you need to be accurate.

I will play it again

Had heard mixed reviews so decided to try for myself.

Staff was great, no issue at all, however they could do a better job at monitoring people on the course. It seemed people just come from their house to play without checking in. Multiple groups over 4 were on the course, we saw at least 4 groups with 5 or more golfers. This left us waiting for most of the day, even after calling clubhouse and asking to go off on back we ran into multiple large groups. People were playing on greens and moving off into their yard when they would see us coming.

The greens were the biggest issue in grand scheme. You can put screens in carts that tell you to replace divots but that doesn’t mean people will. Your golfers have destroyed your greens, I’ve never seen greens in such bad shape from divots. There are some holes that were literally unputtable. Not to mention one of the par 3 greens was completely covered with geese/goose poop so you couldn’t putt on it.

For what seems to be a nice layout, it’s overshadowed by overuse and lack of monitoring golfers. Hope they can get some of those things under control moving forward, but we won’t be back anytime soon.

Several groups playing 8-somes ahead of us. We ended up taking 1.5 hour to play 3 holes. It was an absurd day but there was no course personnel willing to intervene. The group behind us tried calling the clubhouse but it was AI. Also the groups ahead of us left beer cans everywhere that we picked up and of course they did not fix their ball marks anywhere. It was rough day and we ended up only playing part of the back nine.
