My main take away was that this course has great rhythm and the price was also right. I spoke with the new owner and it seems they are heading in the right direction. Full disclosure, the cart paths need work and some of fairways and greens need a little love but I think think this track has incredible potential. The clubhouse is new, very contemporary and the staff is extremely accommodating. Also a the range is grass which is key IMO. I can see the vision of what this course can be and I’m looking forward to playing in the future. Cheers!

Best Public Course in Carroll County right now
This time of year conditions can get tough to maintain for courses and this year is no exception. I play all over, and with its Bermuda grass River Downs is now in better shape than any other public course in the county.. I felt a little like the pros did down in Atlanta a few weeks ago hitting my shots from the Bermuda rough. Bottom line is, get it back in the fairway! Such a great layout.

Getting Better and looking great!
RD is getting better. New owners are really working on this challenging course. Tee boxes and fairways have new grass and most look great. Greens are still slow and unpredictable but all look great. Bunkers need work but most never come into play. Grass driving range has always been a plus! Cart paths are still a work in progress. No outside alcohol is strictly prohibited because some cart paths are hilly and dangerous if you're impaired. Be wise and come play this course!

Billy goat course.
Best stress test you’ll ever get for your heart. Never again. Sorry but the weak at heart would be lucky to finish all 18 holes. The cart paths, for which there are many will destroy your back.

Best condition in years
I play here a few times a month and it's always a challenging course. Tremendous value right now,
The conditions have improved greatly. I believe they have bermuda grass fairways that are more common in the south, and it seems to take a while until the conditions are this good. Now is the time to get out there and play! I'm a 14 handicap and played some of my best golf of the year but shot 85. Three holes killed me. Trouble everywhere. Greens are in mint conditions, albeit slower than most. They putt true. Tee boxes and sand could be better.

We Always Enjoy River Downs
Challenging layout with many memorable holes. Great value and super nice people. Course needs some maintenance and upkeep but is still very playable. Another fun round at RD!

River Downs- great value and a challenging track
I had a great round at River Downs. The course is quite hilly so come prepared!
The course and the greens were in nice condition, but the cart paths are in dire need of repair.
All in all, great day.
I would come back again.

You can’t beat 40$ for Saturday morning golf Although, You can tell they are trying to recover it, but the greens looked like they hadn’t been cut in about 2weeks. There were also an abundant of giant dirt patches in the fairway, some were just astounding with how big they are. Tee boxes were in rough shape, and the traps were rock hard. With all of that said, if I was a beginner or something and didn’t care about conditions, I would come back. The track of the course has So much potential it’s almost sad to see what they’ve done with it. Also the staff is super friendly from what I saw and they did work on the cart path so it’s not bumpy like other people said.

Worth the price !
Greens are good but slow. Some fairways and tee boxes are in poor shape, while others are fine. Course layout is amazing and tough. I enjoy a quick round here at least once a month. It's getting better as we get to summer.

DO NOT PLAY HERE
This course is trash. Do not play here. Most of the fairways and greens are dirt with some unmown weeds. It is a shame too because the course layout is really interesting.
