Better Days Ahead
I have played this course many times. This summer has been hard on the course with a lack of rain. The greens were decent, but not as fast as they normally are. The recent rain and cool nights should help. Tee boxes had not been mowed and fairways were spotty. I was a single so I cannot complain about pace of play, but there were 2 fivesomes in front of me. Not sure how that happened. Looking forward to the course's recovery.
bumpy fairways
almost hurt my back riding cart on fairways. never seen or played bumpy fairways in my 25 golf years. no distinction between fairways and rough. I don't think I will play here again.
First time player with small family outing
We had a good time and I found the course to have an interesting layout and fairly nice greens. The fairways, rough and even some of the tee boxes were a bit “worn” and very dry. With the dry conditions, it looked like the course maintenance chose to not cut the fairways to low and the rough was sparse and had a fair amount of hard-pan. I think if watering were done or more rain were possible, this would be a great course.
We got good pricing on GolfNow.com, essentially half the regular rate of the weekday pricing, which was $70. This is not a $70 per round course but for $35, it’s OK. The people were nice and the Caddyshack Bar & Grill were pretty good. I’m glad we tried this course for the lower price as I would be very disappointed if paying full price. Thank you!
Will be back
Front nine has big greens in great shape, back nine has small greens. Staff was great!
Good value
Oakland is reasonably priced considering the options in the local area. At the moment, course is dry as they have not had much rain. The greens are slow compared to their normal speed but that it due to lack of rain and heat. A very good value . Played in 4 hours at a leisurely pace. On a hot day it would have been nice to have seen a beverage cart.
Tough but fair
Very enjoyable round in a beautiful setting. Course is in very good condition. Greens were a little slow but the conditions have been wet . Staff was very accommodating and friendly. The food was outstanding. Looking forward to playing there again soon.
Who Mowed the Fairways
Wanted to play this course after reading some of the reviews. The course has beautiful views. The greens were very slow compared to what my wife and I are used to. Some of the sand traps had more plant life than sand. The big issues is the fairways. You should not have to spend 5 minutes looking for a ball in the fairway. I have played out of rough that was not that deep or thick. You could see they had been mowed but unevenly. They were deep. I grounded my 9 iron and the fairway grass was deeper than the blade. That just makes for a unhappy golf day whether or not you are an accomplished golfer. My handicap is 18 and I usually shoot in the low 90s..
Course was closed unable to play
The course was closed when I arrived and over a month later I still gave received my refund from Golf Now. I do not recommend this app.
Beautiful course and greens are in great shape!
Had fun golfing here for our first time. The greens were in great shape and the course was challenging and fun.
