Nice course
Played this course many times last year prices went up a bit this year but understand why with the greens being better taken care of this year very nice course
Solid course.!
This course is nice to play and some of the greens are pretty narrow and small which is challenging. Solid course overall.!
Marsh like Fairways.!!
Played after a spell of rain and thought the course had dried out. Boy was I wrong every fairway was spongy /Marsh like and hadn’t been cut recently. That aside it was a beautiful sunny day to play regardless.. Sla’inte.!!
Aeration is problem when you close 9 holes.
Not told only nine holes open because they were aerating the greens. league play wouldn't had mattered if they had all 18 holes open, but with only 9 holes open play was very slow.
First time
3 of us played while on vacation at Deep Creek. I booked a discount round so price was quite reasonable. The course was very wet and most greens spongy to the point just walking on them left footprints. They must have had a lot of rain the night before though I was staying 10 miles away and had none. There was also a lot of clumped grass from cutting.
It wasn't a bad course but it certainly has the minimum of amenities.
Don’t expect to golf going to Deep Creek
Overpriced, fairways are non-existing, grass clippings all over the greens, was not an enjoyable course to play for $55 on a weekday.
A real disappointment
Oakland Golf Club has been a nice local course in the Deep Creek area of Western MD. I have played OGC countless times over the years.
The course seems to be struggling financially, and although the greens were in decent shape this past Friday, the rest of the course (rough, fairways and tee boxes) seemed neglected. Weeds were abundant and grass cutting was certainly not optimal. I was also quite surprised that my rate at age 65 years was $38 to walk 9 holes, VERY expensive given the circumstances.
I made a tee time through Golfnow to play there again on Saturday, perhaps the other 9 holes, a bit of a 2nd chance for OGC. That was a mistake.
My time was for 3:34pm on Saturday. I arrived about an hour early to do some putting and get a bite to eat, only to discover that a golf outing was in full force. I was told that I would not be able to tee off until at least 4:30 or 5pm. The pro shop staff did not offer any remedy or refund, as that delay did not work with my schedule. Thus, I paid to play and was not afforded that opportunity.
I attempted to call Golfnow to discuss my situation, but neither a human nor online chat option were available. Quite disappointing, all around.
Nice course
We played here while vacationing in the area. For mid-summer, the greens were in great shape and the fairways were as good as any. It was a good value compared to a nearby course and worth the money on the hot deal.
Great day in the mountains
The layout is excellent, with varied looks and approaches. Greens were true but grain was a little tricky to pick (at least to me). Playing as single, got behind a very slow foursome with retinue playing Superball and not about to let me me through. They stopped at the turn, so continued on. The next group immediately waved me through. There was no one in front of them so caught up the pace. The are lot of elevation changes and green approaches were raised frequently so wedge play is a premium
Will definitely play it again.
Oakland golf course
I’ve played this multiple times over the last ten years. My family vacations in deep creek often. I played with my son who is a very good high school golfer! The greens were near perfect, however the fairways were weeded and didn’t look much different then the ruff! It years past I would say this course was a 4 star place to play. I don’t know what happened! It’s a sham and I would not recommend it today. 07/12/2022
