18th Green. Really tough pin on the back ridge. Photo submitted by u314161955381 on 07/23/2025

12th green. No bunkers on this par four but you will have a long second shot if you don't take on the water off the tee to the left. Photo submitted by u314161955381 on 07/23/2025

Clubhouse entrance. Very clean and conducive to the atmosphere the course gives off. Photo submitted by u314161955381 on 07/16/2023

7th Green. This par five is a risk-reward one at only 495 from the blues. The green is very shallow from front to back though so holding the green with a fairway wood if you can make it over the water is tough. Very picturesque hole. Photo submitted by u314161955381 on 07/16/2023

11th Green. This par five is easily the tightest on the golf course. OB runs down the entirety of the right side and there's very little bail our before you run into the trees left. Photo submitted by u314161955381 on 07/16/2023

15th Green. This par three has a very narrow landing area from left to right. Par is an accomplishment here as an up and down is very difficult to make from any one of the bunkers. Photo submitted by u314161955381 on 07/16/2023

Was Okay Before, Absolutely Spectacular Now
I played this course at least a couple times the last three years and it has consistently gotten better. This past round was easily the best yet. Last year, this course was bought by the owners of the Dream and the Nightmare in West Branch and they are attempting to improve this course to the level of their other two. Let's just say their attempt has been outstanding. The dry dead spots on all the tees and greens are gone, the bunkers are filled up and the edges are trimmed and have no weeds, the greens are rolling considerably faster, and all of those factors give this tour-pro designed layout justice. I've always had great interactions with the staff as they are fans of my youtube golf channel and they were really excited to see me back to play it again. This place stepped up their game with their merchandise in the pro shop as well so they're really trying to take advantage of the well-known top 25 public Michigan facility in the Dream and Nightmare they're now associated with. Shot a 77. I highly encourage anyone to give this place a go. It's right on the way to or back from the ridiculous golf resorts even further north and its in every bit as good of shape as any of them. I just wish the views of the lake were better. You can see bits and pieces of it from hole 7 and hole 9 but that's about it. Still a must play and twilight rates start at 3pm so it's a perfect late-day course.
Solid Underrated Track that's a Little Rough Around the Edges
Overall, this course is a very fair, very interesting challenge. Some comments on this course have judged very harshly on the greens and the fact is they're just not that bad. Are they what you'll find at the country clubs or the resort courses north of here in TC and Gaylord? No, but are they bumpy, dead, and inconsistent? Definitely not. Some greens on the back, namely 15 and 18 get kind of bumpy, but they're very protected by the woods and with how dry it's been this year, you can't expect them to be perfect. They roll at about a 10 and have some interesting dimension to them. Really appreciate the way some of the bunkers frame the greens. There's enough elevation change to produce some incredible views especially on the front nine. Behind hole 7 green is spectacular.
Some of the bunkers are a little bit rough on the edges as they have some weeds in them but they don't extend into the bunker any farther than a foot and the sand itself is decent. The tee boxes and fairways are cut at a very fair length and are overall in decent shape. Some weeds and clovers on some of the more shaded ones but not enough to significantly bother you, your stance, or your swing. The clubhouse and the golf carts look a little dated but the inside of the clubhouse is gorgeous.
Overall, this is a solid course with a great variety of holes. You don't feel lucky if you have a good round here.

What happened?
This course use to be in beautiful shape, but now oh my is it bad. Almost all the greens were dying or had some type of disease. Probably the worst greens I have played on in a really long time. Especially compared to other courses that charge the same rate the quest. I don’t know if they stopped putting money into it or got a new superintendent but man was i surprised to see the course in this bad of shape. The course looked like a hay field. Cut grass clippings all over in just mass bunches. Hopefully they can turn it around. I know I’ll never pay another $60 to play there again if it’s in that condition. On the bright side, the starter that day was very friendly.
One of Best in Area
If you are a fan of modern courses with larger undulating greens and some engineered mounding, then The Quest is for you. I enjoyed the yo north layout with some land movement and the fall colors only aided in my enjoyment of the course.
Only negative would be that previous reviews were accurate about rocks in the bunkers. Course is one of the better public golf courses in Michigan.
Fall golfing
Having left a message the first time I golfed this course, that the sand traps had rocks and stones has been corrected. I was impressed.
It was fall golf and the greens were aerated with holes. I will return next year if their still in business.
Great track for price .
Friendly staff , nice layout , great condition!
Beautiful Course
This is a beautiful modern layout at bargain prices. The staff is very helpful and accommodating. Nice pro shop and great practice facility and range. I highly recommend this whole experience.
Best course in the area.
I play it once in awhile. Always in pretty good shape. Pace was slow with a mix of walkers and riders. Didn’t care for female manager inside when talking to other staff about apparel that was on sale. Might not return due to her. Overall nice friendly environment minus 1.
Good little course
The course was very nice, only issue I had was there was no sign pointing us to hole 10, we didn’t know we had to drive through the parking lot, so signage would be good. Other than that the course was a great time.
Resort Style
I like the course and will travel 95 miles to play it again
. The down side is too many stones and rocks in the bunkers.
But I would still play it again.
Quest Worthy
First time on the coarse. It was very well maintained and in excellent condition. Staff was friendly, course layout was well designed. I don’t have any complaints. I would always like golf to be cheaper, but it was well worth the $40-45.
