Decent Course
Overall a very nice course...holes 17&18 are a little gimmicky.
Good challenge from the back tees.
I did find it very interesting that they had rakes in bunkers and no foam insert in the cups...kinda like they were giving the middle finger to any type of modifications during this unprecedented pandemic.
CASCADES
The tee time was delayed due to frost. The starter was a friendly guy but they sent out twosome in-between foursomes making pace of play infuriating. However the course was in good shape and couldn't get a read on the Greens. Will play again.
Fun Year
This course brings back wonderful childhood memories of Burroughs Farms In Brighton Mi. A classic layout that will test all of your game. I had a weekday membership this year and enjoyed many rounds on this course. The staff is great.
Typical muni
So this course your typical municipal golf course. Decent layout, greens were above ave, bunkers very subpar. The front seemed a little more open and def more hilly. The back was a lot more trees and a couple hard doglegs. 18 in particular is a 275 hole but it's basically a 90° turn so you have to hit a175-195 shot then have a short shot in. Overall the course was in good shape except some of the bunkers. I would highly recommend a sky caddie to play the doglegs and blind shots. I'd play it again if in the area but would not make a special trip over 30-45 minutes away.
Senior deal is great annual membership
How about $600 for Monday thru Friday unlimited golf with cart. Cheap beer. Classic old designed course. Put your big boy pants on for back to back par 5's on first two holes.
Really a great Muni .. wish it was in my town.
Taking in to account that this course is a municipal course I would have to give it 5 stars. I live in Lansing (obvious) and we have Grosebeck, which I love. This isn't on the same level. It has a tremendous advantage in that it has to take up at least three times as much land. I love how it borders neighborhoods, streets and Cascades Park as well. Guy behind the counter was friendly and helpful conditioning was above average and just an overall great round. I will be back.
The course is in great shape for fall season.
The greens were plugged and sanded, putted OK. The roughs were long, sometimes hard to find your ball or hit out. Over all conditions were good, challenging with enough traps, trees, and water on the back nine.
Great Municipal Style Course
Course was in great condition and well laid out. Very enjoyable day of golf. Being super picky... Back nine was cheapened by a park and couple holes by a neighborhood street. So if you're looking for a wilderness experience take that into consideration.
Course was in excellent shape and well maintained. Greens were cut and a very good speed.
Excellent course for the money. Best municipal course in S/E Michigan. Pace of play was extraordinary because there were no groups in front of us. All the greens and fairways were cut for the most part before we played at 10:00 am on a Monday.
Must play
This course is an old style course. Trees and large greens with a lot of roll and breaks. I visited the trees too much.
The first 9 holes was fine
After the first 9 holes, we ended up starting the 10 th hole with a 5-some group in front who were not going to allow anyone to go through. We had to skip 3 holes to get past a five some and then a 3 some as we were just two players.
For a muni course Cascades is great
This is a terrific course. I've heard for years how nice it was and I can't believe it took me so long to play it. The greens are really nice. Some elevation changes but nothing earth shattering.
Ideal for so so golfers like me and my golfing wife who isn't bad but isn't great.
One hole has two greens with two holes with two flags I have no idea why.
This course is in great shape. Greens and fairways
Always enjoy playing here. Staff is friendly and helpful. Course is in very good condition. Especially loved how well the greens roll. Fairways were cut properly and the rough was also cut so that you would not lose your ball. Also has alot of challenges without being ridiculous. Overall good layout.
Had a great experience golfing this course.
Great Course; Always a good decision
I played this course a couple of times as a junior in tournaments, and immediately loved it. This is a challenging, but very fair course. Not extremely long, and gives you plenty of teeing options to fit your play-style.
Starts out with two moderate length par fives to get your game going. Nothing tricky in the first few holes, but then comes the placement game. The course likes its dog-legs; and demands placing your drives rather than just overpowering the course, hence the difficulty rating. Don't worry though, the carts have a GPS system in them to show you the distances to the front, middle, and back of the green as well as points of interest (like the bend of a dog-leg). The greens are big and very undulating (I had a 50+ ft putt that swung about 20 ft). Always a great time on this course.
Great Value
The course is in very good condition and the staff is very friendly!!
Great course as usual and the greens were a bit on the fast side which was a nice surprise.
It was nice to actually deal with someone that understands just how golf now works. Nice experience.
