Golf pro was very helpful in explaining the course since ot was our first time playing the course
Good value
Course was in pretty good shape. Greens were very good and the fairways were nice. The rough is full of clover and it can be a challenge to find your ball sometimes. Over all it was a nice experience. We were held up by 2 foursomes a few holes ahead that were extremely slow, so we replayed 2 holes to create some space. Eventually we had to skip the last 4 holes as the course was really backed up. No rangers on the course, no beer cart either.
Noticable improvements
I have golfed Whiteford Valley for almost 15 years. It has been one of my favorite "Toledo-area" courses. I like the setting. It has always needed a little TLC, but the setting is relaxing to me. Anyway, I have to say they have made noticeable improvements! The fairways and greens have improved greatly! They have spent time trimming trees and have added new signs at each hole. They have also repaved the entrance to the parking area! Sure there is more to be done, but I am excited about the improvements they have made to the course condition. Thank you owners!
POOR MAINTENANCE!!!
Left after 11 holes. Spent 1.5 hours in between shoots looking for balls I watched go down the middle. shouldn't lose balls in an open course. greens are unkept. rough is too thick for a very sub-amateur course. NOT FUN.
Save your money and time
As someone who grew up and spent the majority of their life right down the road it’s a shame what this place has come to. They are more than willing to take your money but have zero interest in maintaining the course whatsoever. The tee boxes have large patches of uncut grass and weeds, the fairway grass is so long that you have trouble finding balls that are right down the middle, and the greens are worse than the nicer courses in the area’s fairways. They’re more focused on kicking people off the course when there is still a half hour of sunlight than providing a quality experience. If you are considering spending your hard earned money there is highly suggest you reconsider and give it to somewhere that still provides a good experience. Will never go back again and hope that they either close or find new ownership that aren’t total cheapskates.
Very long rough with weeds
The rough was very long and the amount of dandelion made it very difficult to find balls that would end up there. The rough was at least 5-6” in spots and the dandelions took over. Making it near impossible to locate balls at any distance.
You get what you pay for
Very unmanaged coarse. Clumps and clumps of grass everywhere. Drove directly over ball while looking for it. If you don't step on it you won't find it. Even the fairway shots were not visible from the tee box. The 1st cut was like a 2nd cut and the 2nd cut was like it was never cut. Greens were in good shape though. I paid 20 bucks for a round after all discounts and for 20 bucks I would play again but no more than 20 bucks.
West course in April
Very good shape, I like playing this course it’s very manageable at 5700 yds.
