Hidden Gem
Never played this course even though it is close and I golf a lot. Saw the special on Golfnow and was very satisfied. Driving to the course, I was apprehensive, but that changed as soon as I arrived at the course. Found out they have been under new management for the past 2 years, and they have done a fantastic job with this course. Very well maintained and a very friendly and helpful staff. Not very long, but challenging. If you want to hit driver all the time, you might not like it. This is a thinking players course and it is fun.
Great course
Very manageable course large green wide open fairways not too many hazards to slow down your game. Will definitely play here again
What a gem!
Wow! What the new owners have done with this former muny. Lush fairways and rough, smooth greens. Course was private club perfect. Saw a nice buck on #9 fairway.
Not sure what dude below problem was? Maybe needs some lessons?
Pace of play was very good, saw the ranger many times.
Staff was very nice with out the hoity toity attitude you find at some "wanna be" courses.
Good beer prices too!
Good Value
Nice public golf course - A variety of holes including a lake and some wetlands - Very enjoyable for the average golfer
good features
This course is only 8 minutes drive from my home.
New managment has improved condition of the course and staff is very friendly.
Horrible course
Tee boxes fairways were rock hard broke a club never play again
Short but entertaining course
The course has always been in good condition the 4 times I have played. But played 18 yesterday, it seems like full tee times. The ranger/starter needs to do a better job combining groups. Way to many twosomes on the course with at times 2-3 groups on a hole.
Good valued course
Played course on several occasions, well maintained. Will return in the future!
18 holes speed was avg. at 4.5 hrs.
If you get a reduced fee - course is well worth the money.
Paid for 18 holes but the starter wouldn't let me make the turn
I played my first nine and when I made the turn the starter said I couldn't make the turn because a league was starting. I went inside the clubhouse and I told them what happened. They gave me a rain check for about half the green fees for 9 holes, so to use the rain check I half to pay for half the green fees. At least they did something for me. I wished I could have played 18.
worse experience ever
Ive played this course multiple times , have always had a good time. This time we booked through golf now. A tee time for 2. Then crystal lake staff paired us with 2 strangers who didnt play at our pace at all.. hit multiple balls of the tee. The course was so backed up it was ridiculous. We got 9 holes in in about 3 and 1/2 hours. Asked for a rain check for the back 9 because we got dumped on and it was backed up so back i would have been late to work due to the pace when Usually we can get 18 in in about 4hrs tops . They were rude about giving us a rain check for 9 due to booking through golf now. And we didnt get it. But i dont know when we will be back to this course. Which is a bummer because its in the area and usually its a good time
Nice Course
Excellent value if you book through Golf Now. Paid 20 dollars per person for 18 holes with cart. Greens and fairway were in good condition. Highly recommend.
A Pleasant Surprise
Great value! I was not expecting much and was pleasantly surprised. I will be back.
Fun course
I had a very good time plying this course. The greens and fairways were in good condition. The course is well marked and the pace of play was well kept!!!! I will play it again!!!
Great value
You will like this course. Very playable and fun holes.
New owners fixing up a lot!
We found the course in excellent shape. Fairways were cut t a good length, greens were really fast, fringe areas were playable. The cart was really slow. The foursome ahead of us was even slower. They were 2 holes behind everyone the foursome in front of them. They need a ranger to keep the pace normal. Overall - very pleased with the course
A must play!
Don't let the yardages fool you, this is a challenging little course. Some really good hole layouts with some really nice scenery especially on the back 9 around the lake. For October, it was in way better shape than many of the "acclaimed" courses in the area. Tee boxes looked like they were really manicured...easy to find a level, well cut spot on the tees. Greens were also good...ball marks were present but that's just inconsiderate golfers you find everywhere. This is really a great track, whether you pay their full really reasonable fees or you get a "hot deal".
My tip: mix up your tee off - I play blue on the shorter holes and white on the more average distances...you will definitely get to use most of your clubs.
As for the previous reviewer, most higher priced courses don't even put tees in your cart, and if it's busy, the chance of a scorecard and sharp pencil attached is slim. Think about joining a country club at 25-30k...they'll give you all the tees and scorecards you want.
Upkeep was good.
The cart could be much cleaner.
Suggestion: Place 2-3 T's in the holder on each side just as a complimentary gesture (cost of few pennies buys a lot of goodwill). A scorecard clipped onto the pencil holder would be nice too!
Great Sunday Round!!!!
Have played here 3 times now! Not real long nor difficult but, course is always in great condition! Sunday afternoon is always open. No rushing and got around in just under 4 hours. Will play more often!
Favorite course close by
One of my favorite courses to play. It is close by and easy to get to. It is rolling and has great features. When we played we did not have a group behind us pushing us on. The players in front of us moved along nicely. This made the play truly enjoyable on such a beautiful day.
