Great value, slow play for a Monday , morning andantes couple of gimmicky holes on both sides
Used to be a great value
I was a member of clearbrook many years ago and played almost daily. After moving I dropped my membership.
I still spend summers in Michigan and enjoy many of the courses. Since Clearbrook dropped out of sites such as golf now, I only played there once this summer. We play several other courses taking advantage of breaks in pricing. I know that they have since lost several hundred dollars in revenue because of what they have done. We are 8 players who play weekly, so this is where i come up with their loss. We still frequent the grill room and notice that the course is no where as busy as previous years. They should consider getting on board deals. If they were full most of the time< I could understand their reasoning. I can't help but think that greed has taken over. It is too bad.
Best shape in years
This is where I played my HS golf and that was 20 years ago now. I have to say the course is in the best shape I've see. Since 1995.
A friendly challenge
A fun golf course. I need all 14 clubs, a good sign for any course. Fast, smooth, well conditioned greens. Sand bunkers not up to the level of the rest of the course. A genuine bargain!
Very Nice Michigan Course
There is a little bit of everything. Some water, plenty of sand traps, holes that demand tee shots be in the fairway, holes that require strategy and holes that play longer than advertised. The greens are usually in good shape. The tee boxes sometimes need a little work. Overall we like the course and will play it many times from mid May to mid September.
Unfriendly Staff
We needed rental clubs.
The guy at the desk sorted out two ugly bags with extremely wearied out clubs.
—> For these clubs he charges us 25 $ per set - in sum 50 $
When we asked him for acceptable clubs he only replied that are good enough for us.
Something like that has never happened before and is unacceptable.
Interesting layout
Really enjoyed the course. Well taken care of. Challenging layout. Greens were in consistently good shape. Friendly staff.. Will come back.
Doesn't get much better
9 holes on a Sunday afternoon couldn't have gone any better. Course is in great shape, greens were fast. No burn out spots. Some wear from cart traffic but to be expected for a busy course this time of year.
The only hole I wasn't a fan of was the par 5 5th hole where you have drive then totally blind 2nd shot and tight third depending on your positioning. For sure just 1 hole that is target golf which is OK in around of 9 holes but I wanted another crack at it and it requires you to drive up and see what is in front of you or you'll make big mistake.
Lots of native grasses and meandering streams in between the holes which could swallow up balls from the erratic drives but it was super colorful and I've never seen more butterflies on a golf course than at Clearbrook. I'll go back and you should go too.
Nice Course Layout
Nice course and layout, but the traps need a lot of work. Seemed like only an inch of sand and then hard pan clay underneath. Course has a grill and the staff was very friendly.
True greens
The best part of Clearbrook are the greens. They roll true and are moderately fast. The tee boxes are above average and the fairways are too. I would prefer shorter grass on fairways, but they aren’t bad.
