Lovely Course in Mankato MN
Lovely course in North Mankato. Well kept and greens were true and fast. So much fun with the slopes of the greens providing a challenge based on hole placement. Was not too punitive off the tee allowing players of all levels to feel like they have a chance, but greens kept things honest and knowing the pin placement and slope was the difference maker.
Play looks like it could be slow with 7-8 minute tee times on an opening reachable par 5. As the only public 18 hole in the vicinity it will definitely back up. Only other complaint would be the par 3 distances. All 4 were the same club. They need to extend one of them.
But would highly recommend as an enjoyable round in the valley with a pseudo links design (wind didn’t play a factor when we played, but could see it raising some havoc). Approachable for even high handicappers but low HC’s will enjoy the challenge of pin placement and green design if they want to go low.
A great place to spend your afternoon
My tee time at another course was cancelled because of snow, so my friend and I made some calls looking for courses who were open. We found this course, 2 hours away from us. We booked the time, drove down and played 18. We both enjoyed it, it was a very nice late season round. Course was quiet and well maintained, greens rolled nicely and I was very impressed with how well it was taken care of. They had a nice range and practice area, clubhouse was fine. They had a nice bar and a selection of food. Which was great. They are renovating soon which will definitely boost the rating. Staff were extremely nice and accommodating. It isn't the toughest course you will play but it still has its share of doglegs, water and deep bunkers. I definitely would patronize this course again.
