An overall very good experience.
My son and I played nine holes at Ruth Park on May 8 and it was a very good experience. The course was in very good shape and we finished in less than two hours.
The only negative came when we checked in and the person at the front desk said we owed $8. I explained that I booked the tee time at GolfNow and that it was paid in full on my credit card. He expressed confusion and perhaps anger that what he received on his computer was not consistent with what I showed him on my receipt. I did not have to pay the extra $8 and we moved to the tee box, where we went off on time. Afterward, the staff was very cordial and responsive. The food was good and the service was excellent. We will be back.
Love my local 9.
Ruth Park always seems to have their greens ready for play early in the year. Course is a mix of easy and moderate par 4's including 2 blind tee shots, plenty of slope, some narrow fairways and a few dog legs. Course can get slow on the weekends, but weekday afternoons are usually pretty good pace. They've put a lot of work into the course the past few years and its really starting to show.
Great little 9 hole course
First time at Ruth park and was very impressed with the course.
A Great 9 Holes
Ruth is one of the best kept secrets in St. Louis.
Not only does Ruth Park have the cheapest range ball prices in the entire St. Louis area, they also clearly take pride in maintenance of their course year round.
The course isn't overly challenging, especially if you can keep your drives on the left side of each fairway. That's not to say that it's not a fun course, though.
The rates are reasonable and I have never had a problem with any of the staff.
Great 9 hole city course
IMO this is one of the better city courses around and is the best value. They have been improving the course over the last few years and it really shows. The staff is always friendly and I hope they continue the great work. Just remember, it is a city course and cannot be compared to courses like Gateway National, Pevely Farms, Far Oaks, etc. Overall it is a great value and a good place to get in a quick nine.
cheap but very slow play
This course is a good value for 9 holes, running around 8-10$ for 9 holes. HOWEVER. The pace of play is extremely slow and there are many groups of older golfers, women, and otherwise slow players making it a frustrating course to play most days.
great municiple course
played this course on a warm december day and the greens and fairways were in great shape if you walk be prepaired for a little work out, quite a few hills, if you stay in the short grass you'll be fine. nice driving range and a friendly staff make this a great nine hole course.
?
I still had to pay when I got to the course, it's the only course I have booked on-line, but still had to pay. $4 for a pull cart for 9 holes is a little high.
Beautiful course in a great setting - hidden gem
Although only a Par 9 this is without doubt one of the nicest courses I have played on. If you didn't live in the area I don't think that you would know the course is there!! The grass is like a billiard table and is an absolute pleasure to play on. It is a little on the easy side, particularly as the rough here is cut so well it is probably as good as a lot of fairways in the area!!! I will happily play here again whenever I get the chance, I just wish they had an 18 hole course too!! Perhaps I will play 2 rounds here instead!!
Oh and did I mention that the price is great too?!
No better course for the price
Well maintained course. For the price there isn't a better course in St. Louis. Full length 9 hole course with reachable greens and picturesque landscape. Highly recommend.
Value Course
Nine-hole course for a reasonable price. No real frills or challenges, but not a simple course either. Relatively wide open to allow some forgiveness for mis-hits, but enough elevation change and challenge to test low handicappers. For a cheap round of golf, the course is in excellent condition.
