Avoid this place
The greens and course were in decent condition, but the staff was garbage. Then don’t know how to use any technology at all, I’m pretty sure I was double charged (need to verify with bank) paid for carts had to to turn them in early due to the staff wanting to leave, decided to keep playing walking and was told it’s was closed with light still out. When I pay for 18 I would like to actually have the opportunity to play. And there was a group in front with 6!!! No idea where ranger was. Play somewhere else !!!
Nice Track
Hit em straight and the course is not difficult. The rough was thick and the greens a bit slow. Overall the course was in very good condition. Pace was great. Played in under 3.5 hours.
Wow - Thank you for the five star review! We are happy to have exceeded your expectations. We love hearing from you and are glad you had a great experience. We look forward to having you back again soon!
Thank you for leaving 4 stars! We love hearing from you and are glad you had a good experience. We would love the opportunity to bump those 4 stars to 5. We hope you will come back soon so we can wow you on your next visit.

Has potential
This course has potential, but the staff did not allow us to finish multiple holes. First, they stopped us mid-hole because they were closing the part of the course that’s on another side of the street. This cut out 2 holes from our play and wasted 10 minutes (on a twilight tee time). Then we were told the course is closed to end the round.
Thank you for letting us know about your recent experience. Your satisfaction is a deep concern of ours as we always aim to exceed expectations. Your review will allow us to follow up in areas you voiced concern. If possible, please reach out to us directly so we discuss your review in more detail. We hope you will come back soon so we can wow you on your next visit.
Good Value, Fun Course
I've played Hendrick's many times. My game doesn't warrant paying more than $50 for a round of golf, so Hendrick's is a great bargain for me. It's sufficiently challenging for all but the single-digit handicapper, but not so difficult that I can't break 90 on a good day. You can usually finish the round in 4 hours or less, so good pace for a municipal course.
Thank you for leaving 4 stars! We love hearing from you and are glad you had a good experience. We would love the opportunity to bump those 4 stars to 5. We hope you will come back soon so we can wow you on your next visit.
Covid clear
Very cautious with covid and that was great. Pace was outstanding due to twosomes and extra space. Course was not beat up. Greens slow. Some quality classic holes. Short but fun.

Never Again
As a lifelong Essex County resident, Hendricks Field was always in the “weekend rotation” for me and my friends despite poor customer service, declining facilities, and overall experience – on Saturday we agreed on “never again” coming back to this place.
Lets start by the checking in process – or lack thereof. A bunch of people congregate near the front entrance waiting to pay for their tee time.. usually 15- 20 minutes prior to teeing off where they rudely get told to back away from the counter and wait. They have had a process implemented for years that you can’t pay for your round prior to the tee time? With this archaic process, you often have an open tee box on hole 1, the staff then calls you in to pay which usually takes about 5 minutes, then you are ushered to the first tee to hit. Why wouldn’t golfers be allowed to pay 10-15 minutes prior to their tee time to speed things up and allow for some practice swings on the tee box? I have never been to another golf course that implemented this process and there is a reason why. This procedure causes significant backups as there usually is a foursome approaching the green before the foursome that supposed to be on the tee box, has to come BACK inside to pay – just a very inefficient process.
The staff here is extremely rude and unhelpful. The bunch of old timers who run this place have “their guys” who they take care of but other than that, it’s a very odd experience. No one greets you, cracks a smile, or offers any type of explanation when golfers ask “how much longer?” they have before their group is called. For example, my group called Hendricks Field prior to our arrival and were told there was an “Hour and a half” frost delay. Knowing this information, we waited in the parking lot till 9:15 then decided to go inside for an update to be told that our group was called a half hour ago? Then proceeded to be told that there was no way that he could get us out today we missed the tee time? Being you can’t pay until your group has the tee box, I assume the gentlemen’s suggestion would be for us sit in the grill area (that isn’t open) for 2 hours and wait *which according to his timeline of when he called our groups name- a half hour ago when he called us would have put us at our original tee time with no frost delay*
The facilities - I personally have not seen the grill inside working or active in years – rarely is the “halfway house” open, no water in the water jugs, ball washers don’t work. Hole 16 has had huge tractor marks right before the green for years and was never repaired. Specifically, Hole 16 should be shut down – it’s always under water and us unplayable as 12 inch deep tracks take up most of this hole. The area in between hole 10 and 16 is actually dangerous. I have seen multiple carts get suck here as it is unsafe/unplayable area that routinely is under water.
Overall, the cheap price tag and convenience of the course does not outweigh rude staff and awful facilities.
** Please note, this is not based on 1 bad experience last weekend – I have been coming here for 10+ years and its always been this way, Saturday was just the last straw for us. Although the golf course at Weequiac is only marginally better, this will be our preferred course going forward based on the overall experience and positive treatment to golfers from county employees.

Amazing day for Jan golf in NJ
Booked on GolfNow for 30 bucks on a Saturday, incl cart. Weather was amazingly nice, mid 60s, even some sun. Check-in was a bit chaotic, but nothing too annoying. I ended up walking, just because the weather was so nice. The course was in really good shape for January in the northeast, despite all the rain in recent weeks. Good job, greenkeeper. Would absolutely play again.
Wow! Thank you for the 4 stars! We love hearing from you and are glad you had a good experience. We would love the opportunity to bump those 4 stars to 5. We look forward to seeing you soon!
