The Valleyview nine is the most difficult course at the 27-hole Farmstead Golf & Country Club, which is located in northwest New Jersey approximately one hour from New York City. Small greens, tree-lined fairways, hilly terrain and out of bounds on seven of nine holes are among the reasons the Valleyview nine is a test. The Byron Phoebus design opened in 1979.

Getting too expensive

I’m seeing a trend not just with this course but all the courses in the New Jersey area. $81 for 18 and a cart is way too expensive for what this course is. Fairways and greens are in great shape and so are most of the tee boxes. I wish they would give the valley 9 a little bit more attention because it’s really challenging and really fun. It’s a nice old school layout but it’s too much money for what it is. I can go up the road and play Skyview for the same price.

Tee boxes

Tee boxes were terrible. All sloped and in very rough condition. The course was dry which is understandable given the weather lately but 9th green on lakeview had a huge puddle on the right side that made it unplayable from the right fringe

1st time in 3 years..time to change that.

As far as playing it years ago, it has always been a great place to play locally. I hadn't been back here in over 3 years, only because of playing other places and how busy I've been. But I glad I finally made it back. Definitely the best round of golf for the price. Pro shop fully stocked and friendly staff. Everything about the place is top notch. It will definitely become 1 of my regular stops again. Every part of the course was in great shape, greens fairways and tee boxes. Having the 3 nine hole course is awesome. Always mix it up everytime you come. Thanks for a great day of golf
