Bowling Green Golf Club

About
Bowling Green Golf Club is in the heart of northern New Jersey, surrounded by miles of idyllic countryside. An abundance of mature oaks and towering red pines characterizes the scenic course. This quick, shady layout is a great round for walkers. The golf course has a classic links design that is easily played in less than four hours. Like most traditional links courses, the gently undulating terrain has the perfect pitch and roll. It also provides each hole with unique challenges that require accuracy and strategy. Trees heavily line the fairways, presenting some of the course's most formidable challenges. Bowling Green Golf Club's front nine is slightly more forgiving than the back nine, which incorporates the natural ponds and wetlands on a few holes. There are also some tricky doglegs to contend with.

6th Tee Photo submitted by agurango on 05/24/2013
Course was in excellent shape. Pace of play was great, but bear in mind that it was midweek. Very walkable. Lots of trees line the fairways so you need to keep your drives in play. Greens were faster than expected. Nice course, but a bit off the beaten path.
Well maintained fairway , rough and green
Overall, great experience to play, very well maintained - green was a bit difficult due to fast speed
Definitely want to play again.
Thank you
Good tough course but not unfair. Price is expensive, but there is some value… get what you pay for.
Should be $100 or less
Great overall, just should not be $125+. Too many trees that are right in the middle of the fairway. Front desk worker was slow and unorganized. If it was $90 or less id play there all the time, but frankly not worth the premium price.
Beautiful course
First time playing on this course. Was very impressed from start to finish with the staff, conditions of the course and pace of play. A little pricey, but I think it’s worth it.We will return..
Nice golf course. Dynamic pricing so you have to keep an eye out. 50$ hot deal great value, 125 normal rate quite steep IMO
Sweet course
It was a very nice layout flat wish it was more hilly, but that’s OK would recommend
Solid Go To Course
I like Bowling Green. People who work there are very nice. Beautiful trees line many of the holes. Particularly the first two, beautiful tall pine trees. Good course on a hot day because of the shade.
It was surprisingly wet. Not sure why so it was soft. I repaired so many ball marks of previous players - not sure why they don't fix ball marks. Tees a bit chewed up but fairways were nice and greens as well. A tad slow and very soft.
At $67 with the cart, I'm happy to play this course. But higher or above $100, which I believe it can climb on weekends, just not worth it.
1st time playing the course, I heard it was a bit challenging. A nice layout with 4 long par 3's. Most tee shots were not automatic driver. Some tight fairways and stratgic placed trees made the you think about club selection off the tee. I would play Bowling green again but the negatives I take way, a lot of divots on the greens and fairways and many bunkers weren't raked and tee boxes were a bit chewed up which made it appear and look more of a muni and priced like a premium course. A little better groundskeeper attention and adjust the price to $90-$100 would be the best move.
Not Worth It
BG used to be a nice place to go - it's secluded with many tree-lined holes. It always used to be priced fairly and the conditions were good. In recent years, the course conditions have gotten substantially worse and the prices have only gone up. Their pricing should be criminal - it is outright robbery for the very little value you get.
Then add in this poor customer experience. A cell popped in the area and it started raining fairly heavily. They blew the horn and we went in to wait it out. No problem with waiting it out as it was pretty heavy rain and it was possible that there may have been some electricity in the air (though there was no thunder and no visible lightning). After the cell passed and the rain had stopped completely, the skies got blue again and one check of the radar showed the cell was both weakening and safely out of the area. We went back to resume play where we had stopped. All of a sudden, an employee drives up in a cart and says we must go in. We said we already went in and waited out the rain and were going to finish our round now that it was all clear. The nasty employee snaps back - "this is not up for negotiation!" and chased us off the course. Mind you again, the storm cell was nowhere near us at this point. The rain and any threatening weather was long gone. This guy just wanted an excuse to go home early for the night. What's worse is there were plenty of other groups still there and waiting to play. It wasn't like we were the only group left.
Bowling Green management - your pricing is a joke, the course conditions are an embarrassment, and your staff is rude. Used to be a great place to play, but no longer. Do better!
Nice Course but Way too expensive
Will always be able to get out because they are the last to fill up and I believe it's just because of the pricing. Way too high.
Lucky day
Friday the 13th. Hah!! The course played beautifully.
A well kept gem. Love playing here.
