Farmstead Golf & Country Club - Lakeview/Clubview Course
About
Water comes into play on six holes on the Lakeview nine at the 27-hole Farmstead Golf & Country Club, which is located in northwest New Jersey approximately an hour from New York City. None is more challenging than the closing hole, a very short -- but very intimidating -- par 3 over water. The Byron Phoebus design opened in 1965.

Golfer Reviews
it is glad place
good condition of play this cose. you will be enjoy.
Great Nov golf.
The course is in great shape. They are always working to improve things. Tee boxes and Greens were great.
Bait and switch
When you book farmstead lake/club you expect to play lake/club. This was the nicest day this fall so it was probably overbooked. Ken the starter insinuated he had been sending groups out every 5 minutes..doesn't bode well for pace of play and back up on the course. Valley 9 is nonsense. Four par 3s, and nonsensical par 4s. A 409 yard par 5 followed by a 433 yard par 4. Just nonsense. Lake and club are beautiful and that is why I would recommend...but he sure you get to play what you book...I was very turned off to this place by the switching of our round.
Where are the rangers?
The course says they're enforcing pace of play but I've been playing here for years and don't recall EVER seeing a ranger on the course. We could have used one yesterday. The pace of play was SLOW. The starter sent out at least 2 groups of twosomes ahead of us who were horrible golfers crating a backup. Worse, these 2 pairs of twosomes never hooked up to create a foursome. There was no sign of a ranger who could prompt these hackers to pick up the pace. We had to wait on every hole. Meanwhile, while waiting, we could see wide open holes ahead of theses slow groups. Where was the ranger to enforce pace of play? Also, many golfers at this course don't seem to realize that the rakes near the bunkers aren't just for decoration. I'm tired of finding my ball in footprints in the bunkers left by other golfers who don't bother to rake. I guess this venue gets a lot of bad golfers who don't know golf course etiquette.
Tale of Two Nines
The Clubview nine was great. The holes were challenging enough and the conditions were excellent The Valleyview nine has four par threes and is in a little bit less favorable condition. That said, the combination was a very enjoyable experience
Pretty course nice layout
Finally played a round under 5hrs!!! We played in 4 1/2 hrs greens were in good shape. It was an enjoyable round!
Great golf
absolutely one of my favorite North Jersey courses - great conditions -great 19th hole - good pace of play - course in great shape - lots of wildlife to observe
Special K
The grounds and course was great. The pace of play was quite slow though. Signs were posted everywhere on the pace of play but no one was around to enforce the pace.
Scenic course
Scenic course with lots of wildlife. 3 9-hole courses available to play. As a novice golfer, I've played this course with handicapped golfers to your weekend warriors. Challenging for all players. You get to use all your clubs on this course.
Surprised at the poor conditions
Based upon the reviews on Golfnow expected a better facility and course. From uneven teeboxes to spots where it was hard to determine if you were in the fairway or first cut overall condition was not great. The greens were disgraceful, does anybody fix ball marks anymore? In addition, one green was fast next was slow. no consistancy.
8/23 lake club round
Course was in good shape for this late in the season and the rounds it has seen. 30 minute late start was a little discouraging. Pace of play was pretty good at about 4 hours and 30 minutes.
As we were finishing our last few hole there were some Lou's foul mouth kids yelling on the second hole of club course.
Bar is always great after the round with good food and beer. Noelle is a friendly gem at the bar as is the majority of the staff.
Farmstead
Great course for your money, great cinditions a lot of wildlife and staff is really nice. Was late for my tee time but was not a problem, they were going to pair me up with a group since i was playing solo but I requested to be alone and they filled my request. Fun place to play, i like lakeview hiles the best. Enjoy!
course in great condition
fun course have played it before always in good condition
Chilidip2
Tee time was 11:00. Foursome in front of us was a little slow but was such a nice day it didn't matter. Fairways and greens in good shape but like so many other courses I had to fix many ball marks on the greens. Wasn't sure about the bunkers because I didn't visit any but they looked well maintained and raked
Pleasurable day
Course was in fine shape was a very hot day so no one was playing. Ended up playing another 9 holes for 11 dollars more so played all 3 nines in 4 hours recommend this course to everyone not very long but in great shape and highly enjoyable.
Great Price
Played late on a Sunday , pace of play was fine. Some blind shots but pretty open. Greens were very slow and tee boxes had seen a lot of play this summer. Would play again at the Golf now rate.
Great course
Well kept course with a great variety of ways to play. The 3 separate 9 hole courses give you the option of customizing your round.
