Good value, poor staffing
Showed up 15 minutes before round, stood in line at counter for 12 minutes while clerk (older w/m, thin, glasses) had a conversation with a younger man about taxes and mortgages. This was around 2:30pm. Got to 1st tee box and got caught behind a very slow foursome. Starter said he could have gotten us out ahead of them if we were there a few minutes earlier.
Not the first time dealing with poorly trained/non-supervised staff in the shop at this course.
Tricky Holes
Very nice layout to the course. Back nine has some tricky holes. Overall nicely kept.
Old time course in great shape
Tees, fairways, rough and green in great shape. Sand not so much. A fun and somewhat challenging course. 16 is a part 5 with more than a90 degree bend. Watch the map on the scorecards as routing can be a bit confusing.
Check In
Why does this course post on GolfNowyet make you pay at the course? Also a GolfNow user cannot use any of their credits or awards. GolfNow should not allow this.
Also when there are three groups waiting to pay the desk clerk should not behaving a ten minute conversation with a golfer about taxes and mortgages. This was a thin male with glasses in a light blue polo shirt at 2:45pm. Not the first time with an issue with the desk personnel. Maybe slow people to pay in the GolfNow app in full and then the desk clerk will have more time to chat with people and those wanting to tee off can get on the course.
Great older design
Course was great shape in terms of tees, fairways, rough and greens. Traps not so much. Pay attention to the map on the scorecards, routing can be difficult without it. Facilities worn, but was there to play golf.
Unplayable bunkers and bumpy cart paths
Would not recommend booking a time here. I know they have new maintenance staff but the course is still a long way away from being ready for play. Didn’t see a ranger out there once to help improve play on a busy Friday tee sheet. We saw the beverage cart once on hole 3 and never again afterwards. Pro shop is old and dated as well. Tee box’s were not level. Cart path needed a re-pave 15 years ago. Good luck finding hole #1 if you haven’t played there before. Lastly we showed up missing one guy who couldn’t make it due to a family emergency. Guys in pro shop said nothing, neither did the starter….. then I get charged a few days later for the full amount. In those cases you can just charge me on the day of the golf and give a rain check if you really need the $65 that bad. I won’t be back.
Nice old course
Very old course, dates back to the 1900's. Front 9 is fairly easy. The back gets a little tricky. Hole 12 is a challenge. Lay up off the tee, then about a 100 yard second shot up a hill about 40 yards high to a blind green. Par is a great score on that hole. Other then that it's a basic course.
Great golf course
Went Saturday afternoon on a hot deal. Played with 3 great young guys. We really didn't have to wait too long to play until last few holes. But overall, I was very happy with how the pace was for a Saturday. It was hot but lots of water on course which was good. It was my first time playing, also was 1st time for the other guys. Only weird thing on course was 12th hole wasn't marked well. So not only us but others drove around to find tee box. Also on 18th tee wasn't marked well to find. Also, 1 of the par 5's was a ridiculous dog right. No way you could even think of going for it. Lots of cart girls on course which was good. However, one came out of no where on the crazy part 5 and IF my partners didn't yell at me to stop in backswing I could have taken her out. No joke. She never stopped or looked. She thought putting her hand by her face would have protected her. Crazy! BUT, the course was in great shape, staff was great, & overall great place. Will go back again.
New Management is Great
I’ve played Meadow many times and the new management in 2025 is a complete 180. So staff friendliness is top notch. My only issue is the new course layout. Hole 1 is now the old hole 5 which makes hole 18 a 100 yd par 3. The course is a fun challenge but the layout matters for enjoying the whole round. Whatever the reason for the switch is valid I’m sure but I also think they can be more creative down the road so you end on a fun more challenging hole. You know what we all say, that good drive on 18 brings you right back after a bad round of golf. And we all have em, especially at Spring Meadow.
