Hidden Jem
I drove in the area for 40 years and never played the course. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The course wasn’t crowded for a Monday. The tee boxes could use some work, but overall acceptable. The fairways & greens were exceptional to my surprise.
Not a long course. I played the middle tees 54+ yards. Next time I’ll play the back tees just under 58.
This is definitely a course to play especially for senior golfers. Highly recommended.
The course has been around since 1926.
Inexpensive but be prepared for slow play
If you’re looking for a simple place to play that is going to have very low price, it’s fine. But don’t expect fast play as there are a lot of hackers that will have choke holds and bring play to a slow crawl. Greens are fine, tee boxes and off fairways are rough with lots of weeds. Cart paths are mostly rough gravel and asphalt is torn up. Club house is lively and food is ok.
Great value for the money.
I have been playing the EOGC for many years and all aspects of the course are vastly improved from years past. Although the course is relatively short in length, it’s perfect for most players. The fairways and greens are in good shape. It is clearly better taken care of than in the past. Having.the driving range, practice chipping area, and the upscale clubhouse / restaurant are all added benefits.
Not to long with uncomplicated layout. Nice little course
A solid, underrated course
Despite a recent week of 90+ degrees, high humidity and little rain, this course was in very good condition. The fairways were well trimmed and the greens were still lush. Other than the high rough, there is little that will get you into trouble and it makes for a pleasant round of golf.
Good course
Not worth $55 during the day, but for $35 after 4, it’s worth it
enjoyable course t
enjoyable course to play. well kept. a few very challenging holes. mostly fair challenging from the back tees. Place of play could be more quick. check-in was easy and quick. Person was polite.
Has potential but will never be good
I play here because it is close to my house. It is run by the city of East Orange and has been poorly managed for years. There is rarely a starter and when there is he does not regulate the groups going out. Fire instance, when I played foursome went out followed by a twosome, than another twosome went out followed by a foursome and then a single. At the second hole there were three groups backed up. The starter should have had groups merge together and play. If it rains just a bit they will tell you walking only so they don’t have to get the carts for you. When it rains it get flooded , but yet they will still cut the grass it the flooded area and destroy the fairway with tire tracks. It seems that these are all city jobs being given to people who do not know golf or golf course management
I like this course
It's a short course with just a few hazards. But you still have to worry about losing your ball in the woods. If you miss the fairway you may be in tall grass. Tee boxes could use some work. Fairways and greens are excellent. Flat course so it's easy to walk. Short walks from greens to the next tee box. . No homes on the course to spoil the view..
