Inn of the Mountain Gods Golf Course
Course was in terrible shape! Some greens were mostly sone kind of poa annnua and the others (not in bad shape) had been recently been re-sodded! Fees weren’t commensurate of the course condition! Not worth it!
Nice Course But…..
This course has a great layout and the setting is beautiful. The fairways were in pretty good shape. The biggest negative about this course is that the greens are absolutely horrible right now. They replaced six of the greens since last year and they haven’t completely healed yet. The rest of the greens have been taken over by some sort of crabgrass looking grass. The greens are extremely rough and terrible to putt on. The greens fees are still the normal high price. I would not recommend playing this course until the greens have been fixed or they lower the greens fees to reflect the condition of the course.
Below average condition!
What a beautiful course, and poor greens. 50% are new grass, and 50% are bumpy and rough that needs to be replaced. Fairways are struggling with grass consitanceity!
Beautiful and scenic course
Course is beautiful and staff are great. Greens could use some work though. Some greens have recently been replaced and they were the better greens (even with the sod lines).
Recovery From Winter
Course is still recovering from winter. Greens were in bad shape with several having recently been re-sod. Lots of bare spots in most of the fairways. The course is still recovering from its winter hibernation. $140 for 18 seems a bit high. Later in the season, it should be in better shape. Great layout and beautiful scenery. Staff was great.
Inn of the Mountain Gods Championship Golf Course – May 2025 Review
I've played this course the past two years and had always found it to be in excellent shape — scenic, well-maintained, and a real pleasure to play. Unfortunately, that was not the case this past weekend.
The course is currently in very poor condition. There were at least six temporary holes in play, and the rest were in such bad shape that putting was nearly impossible. Many of the tee boxes were also in terrible condition, making it hard to enjoy the round.
It's disappointing to see the course deteriorate like this. Hopefully they can bring it back to its former standard soon, but as of now, it’s not worth the trip.
The course currently had 6 temporary greens as they were being re-sodded. However the other 12 weren’t good either. I would have recommended they do all 18 at the same time and just take the course down until they could open all of them at the same time. I know it was likely a way to allow it to stay open and still have play…but honestly wasn’t worth the lesser rate they are currently charging. We do like the course as we’ve played there previously…but now wasn’t the time. We’ll be back when conditions improve.
Poor conditions
The greens and tee boxes are in terrible condition. They are currently redoing 6 greens and have 6 temporary greens, (they are discounting green fees because of temp greens) but the other 12 greens are slow, bumpy, and overall are in poor condition. I’ve been playing golf at the Inn of the Mountain Gods for 40 years and this is the worst that I have seen it. It’s sad to see these conditions because it is a wonderful layout in a wonderful mountain place. I hope they get it back soon. Otherwise, I want go back at any price! Sorry
Greens under repair
Four greens are under repair. The greens not under repair were rough and bumpy. You would have to be lucky to make a putt.
The course in very poor condition 5 temporary greens fairways in poor condition and all the rest of greens could not putt straight very bumpy. and not a single word about the course conditions you would expect from a casino course to be much better
BEST COURSE
This course is just amazing. I love the trees, and the casino is right next door. The staff is friendly and very welcoming! The weather was perfect! Definitely recommend!
Early time to play this mountain course. Several greens were temporary. Apparently was a hard winter. Recently plugged the greens, still rough.
Looks to inspire
If you looking to scratch that golf itch and enjoy God's top tier offers of nature, then look no further. This course has so many looks to make a better golfer through challenging elevation changes and shaped shots. Enjoy the scenery and say howdy to the deer and wild horses.
Beautiful course and surroundings damaged greens
I played this course a year ago and would have given it 5 stars. However, this time “all” the greens were unputtable. I never had a single putt that wasn’t bouncy all the way to the hole. It looked like they punched them and they never healed. Worst greens I’ve ever played and I’ve played a lot rinky dink municipal courses. Fairways were fantastic and the scenery and layout is beautiful and very playable. I wouldn’t play it again until the greens get back in shape.
Poor greens
The greens were terrible. They were aerated several weeks ago maybe even a month ago and were horrible, they’re also were large blanket or bigger sized areas on the green that had no grass on them. A course that has greens in this condition should offer some sort of discounted green fee or at least let you know before you get there that the greens are not even 75%. I left this course and went and played rainmaker, it was in perfect condition.
Beautiful course
People were friendly and courteous. Fairlways were beautiful but greens left a lot to be desired. Bumpiness and bare spots could be enhanced with a good sanding. The verticut that was being done could also help.
Golf with my sons
We had a 12 o’clock tee time today and the staff was nice enough to let us go a little early because impending rains and open tee availability OK, stop licking faces. Well, the forecast was right and we only got nine holes in before we were rained out. I sure wish we had a chance to play the other nine holes, and complete the round. Maybe next time.
Greens in poor shape
The greens on this course are in bad shape and the tee boxes not much better. As a lower handicap golfer you want a reasonable chance to make a putt. Many of the greens had invasive grass, bare spots, or were unputtalbe. There were a couple of acceptable greens.
If you want a fair roll on the greens, this is not your course. There a better courses in the area for your money. Rainmakers (though the head pro is has no personal skills and they have a poor weather cancellation policy). I would image the Links would be better. None of the buddies I played with said they would return this year or probably next as there is likely no way to fix the bare spots and invasive within two years, the layout is exceptional but sad to see it ruined by poor greens.
Great shape!
Great shape, fantastic views, no hassle on pace of play. Will play again!
