Le Roy Country Club

About
LeRoy Country Club is conveniently situated just 25 minutes from downtown Rochester and less than an hour from Buffalo. It's one of western New York's most accessible public golf courses. The course opened in 1930 as the first public nine-hole layout in LeRoy. The creation of the golf course was spearheaded by Orator Woodward, youngest song of Jell-O magnate Donald Woodward. He believed the landscape of rolling hills and meandering streams was the ideal setting for a round of golf. The natural contours of the terrain helped to determine the placement of the bunkers. Water comes into play on a few holes at LeRoy Country Club, most notably on the finishing two. A large lake on the 17th turns into a creek that wanders across the middle of the final par-3 hole.

Great Value
Course was better shape than I anticipated when pulling into parking lot. Tee boxes and rough areas need better maintained. However, fairways and greens were pretty good. Made up for the other areas.
Nice Time
We had a nice time playing LeRoy CC, some gentlemen let us play through on #4 and we were off to a great round. Didn't wait until 17th hole.
Good experience
overall good course and would play again
Leroy like Jello
Leroy the home of Jell-O has a nice course that allows for some nice scores. The course has slight bends and turns but for the most part is straight. Trees line each hole but most holes are wide enough for those who tend to the hit the ball less than straight. Sand and water makes their appearance from time to time but there is plenty of room to avoid such traps. Was by myself on this one and groups that I came up on allowed me to play through. Overall the value was good, the staff was helpful and friendly and a good time was had by all.
Stuck behind fivesomes...
The course allows members to play fivesomes and there was one on the tee when we showed up. The very friendly guy in the pro shop said not to worry they play fast. They weren't too bad until we caught up to the five in front of them. The course was not in great shape with no flat surfaces for the tee boxes and lots of weeds and holes everywhere.
not bad, not great
Nice facility, fairly short, fairways a bit high, grass high around greens perhaps to make up for short holes. Water in drink areas warm and not fresh tasting
nice mix
Played Leroy for the 5th time yesterday. The front is on the short side and plays as a shot makers style. The back is longer without a lot of trouble. It's a nice for intermediate type player.
muddy
used golf now to book a tee time for 4some I was the last one to arrive everybody paid the discount rate so I paid for the $10.00 extra for booking the discount rate which was not a discount for a muddy course. Oh well live and learn
Great course and fast greens
First time playing there, staff were super friendly and accommodating . they lets us out early because of rain heading there, so we could get our round in before the rain. The guy in pro shop even remembered our names when we came in after the round.. I definitely will be going back and playing again .. and it's 1 1/2 hrs away from home...
Leroy country club
very well maintained couse great condition excellent greens. Will go bad again
great day
very enjoyable course, nice staff, great varity of shots needed to score good.
ver good
fast pace play i like that 2 hour and a half for 18 holes thats the way to play
I love this course.
You can't beat this course for the price. Mature course with water, trees, and sand. Have and will play this course a lot!!
Very pleasantly surprised
On a trip to Niagara Fall decided to stop and play. If all you care about is a fun round of golf on a nice golf course this is the place for you. The club house and facilities leave a lot to be desired but you will enjoy the course.
Nice course especially for $17 including cart
Leroy is a really nice course and is very well maintained. Greens were in outstanding shape and the fairways were in very good shape. Speed of play was up to us as there were not many other golfers near us on the course. Tee off time was 8:40AM and enjoyed a great round. We'll be back for sure!
picturesque
A ravine runs through the middle of the course so you are hitting over it mostly on the back nine. The front nine was short relatively simple with one par 5. The back nine is longer with narrower fairways and your hitting over the ravine on 10, 16,17 &18.
Staff was very friendly and helpful. Water stations were empty on front and back nine which was surprising, fortunately I brought 2 bottles of water. Favorite hole was 17. A 170 yard par 3 with elevated tee hitting over water hazard with fountain. driving range is only 180 yards due to a conflict with hole 2 fairway so irons only here. Did receive a complimentary small bucket of balls. Bring your camera, the back nine is loaded with a number a picturesque shots for some desktops / screen savers.
Greens-greens-greens
After 2 weeks of heavy rain the course dried out fairly well with minimal damage to the fairways..the greens were the stars here, fast and true, somewhat "private course" like..17$ a man was a steal!!
Best Deal In the Area
For the price I paid I cannot believe how great the conditions were. Staff was very friendly and the food at the turn was very good. This course can be challenging if you play the back tees. Easy from the White tees. Great course your missing out if you don't give this place a try.
we like it
Everything was great, except we feel that the fee should be less-- perhaps a surcharge of $2.00 would be about right instead of $3.29.
Ken
I'm sorry you guys had a bad experience. I was the friendly guy that checked you in. This is the 1st time in my 8 years of working at LCC that our members have ever held a group up. They did complete there round in 4 hrs which is under the recommended time it should take to play 18 holes. As for the golf course we are still in spring conditions and have yet to spray for weeds. As for the tee boxes that is a problem we are addressing and if you ever decide to play here again I highly recommend playing the blue tees. The tee boxes are level and the course really doesn't play that much longer. The holes are also being addressed. I apologize for your bad experience and hope you give us a second chance.
Sincerely,
Friendly Guy
